I wonder where this will go. looks like it is either stationary or just drifting to the west. I can't tell. Guess we will have to see if it becomes a depression and see what the forcast holds.

I got it now. Thanks. Even with it being chilly (well here in Okinawa) out the WPAC doesn't want to calm down.

new disturbance... does it seem to move steadily westwards? if yes, then philippines could have another storm. we are already done with the letter T in our name lists, so i wonder if we will have another one.

Here's a graphic that shows typical typhoon tracks at this time of the year... IF 98W does develop, i hope it will recurve as it nears Eastern Luzon :)

What do you think?

I think they just changed their main site address slightly. That means if you have it saved on your favorites - that link won't work. Delete it, do a Google search for Joint Typhoon Warning Center, open the site, then re-save. I thought it was down for days, too, until I re-saved it to my favorites. Looks like they are finally doing some site updates.

I'm a total amateur at this but I think that STR right on the system's west might affect it's possible movement...

moving north then northeast is possible for this disturbance. however, if 98W makes it to move westwards, at 140-150E longitude, then that could be a problem. i am not really sure of what i am saying, but the strong NE winds are keeping the cyclones away from moving to the north at this time of the year.

still, at this current position, anything is possible to happen, way early to tell. i'm not disregarding the possibility of 98W dissipating instead of consolidating further ;)

I can get to their main page but when I click on the links to typhoon stuff - nothing comes up either. OK, anybody got JTWC working for them right now???
