Re: ATL: INVEST 90L - RECON
My thinking is at least 3 days before a potential RECON tasking.

Is it 55 W?
Yeah, tasking begins "when a storm is within 500 nm of landfall and west of 55ºW in the Atlantic." I would hazard to say we're at least 5 days away from seeing a flight scheduled for this, depending on what feature, if any, develops.

Subject to correction, I believe one of the changes implemented for this and subsequent seasons was to extend the distance to 50W.clfenwi wrote:cwachal wrote:Does anyone know when the first recon will be scheduled?

Even then we are still looking at 3-5 days away depending on whether the eastern wave takes over.

This is probably a good time to remind members that there is a thread which explains in detail how to decode dropsonde information. Also, there’s an ingenious online decoder constructed by Chris_in_Tampa will prove to be very useful during the next few months.

Well, the final advisory did discuss the likelihood of it redeveloping down the line - although that was in the 5 day time-frame.

Interesting to see they are still giving this missions, despite only being 20% risk at the moment...
