Chad...long time follower, recent member. Moved to So. Florida 30 years ago and was in ground zero during Andrew. Since then, have been an avid weather freak, especially tropical weather. I've been to probably every weather site and blog over the years. None can compare to the wisdom of this board. While some are bothered by the occasional "conflict of opinions", I find it extremely fascinating. Forecasting is not an exact science, that's why it's called a forecast. Differing points of view is very educational and I've learned quite a bit from both amateurs and mets on the site though I especially enjoy reading posts from the mets themselves. It's awesome to have insight as we all know the news agencies are sluggish in reporting and not nearly as detailed as the information we receive here. All in all, you guys are doing a great job and a great service to those of us who are not experts but find a need to follow systems and try to understand them. Glad to be a part of this communit. Though I am not qualified to offer any expertise, I can help anyone in need of information on preparing for a storm, living through it and planning for the aftermath. I'm always available for anyone who may need this kind of assistance. Keep up the great work!

Folks on Wikipedia discussion pages were chastising me with "This isn't storm2k!"

So I came to somewhere that was more "storm2k" :)

I found this site through Google while searching for information regarding storms earlier in this season and the potential for them to hit me in Florida. Been lurking here ever since!

I think I heard of it from some people bashing it on the PBI board too. I haven't been back there since... lol

I can't remember. It was some other forum back between Jeanne and Frances where everyone was fighting and saying stupid stuff. Someone gave me a link to here and I thought it was fantastic. I never bothered looking at another forum since, and this one got me through two hurricanes.

I think I looked up something in Google, and a thread popped up. So after reading the thread for a while, I joined.

Visitor since 2009, a few days after Ketsana slammed into Metro Manila. My sister stumbled upon this site through Google and shared info about Ketsana while we were cleaning up after the flood. So far this is the best place to seek data from collected from various agencies here in the WPAC.

Since I've been soaking up this past year on info regarding weather systems and tracking, I decided to register and put my two centavos in the forums. Kudos to all the guys/gals who contribute here and more power!

Found Storm2k while googling for information about TCs in the Coral Sea our ship is currently close to. Saw the 'please joink, don't lurk' message and thought I might as well sign up.

2 year lurker here in the West Pac typhoon season. Heard about this site from your (our) own Rob at WestPacWeather. His English videos are a lifeline because of my poor Chinese. I'm in Kaohsiung, in the S. of Taiwan. We get battered by typhoons, being a high-rise exposed on all sides. Our dear CWB does a not-bad job but they are sometimes slow to post track changes and I can get that here instantly.
CWB dumbs down their forecasts like many similar these days. I prefer to understand what's going on & why.

Can't remember exactly how I came up with Storm2k. I do know I searched on ixquick.com (looking for "best weather site online") . Got sick and tired of wading through loads of political and idealogical propaganda and arguments plus late-night PUI at Weather Underground, where I was subscribed for years. Also hate WU's new look and wanted to become familiar with a new "home" before my short-term memory finally peters out. I can quickly find what I need here.
