We've been without power at our restaurant since midnight last night. Entergy is having to replace several downed power poles. Thankfull they didn't fall onto our building. Other than lost perishables we are considering ourselves very blessed. This afternoon and evening we are seeing alot of rain.

OMG, I'm glad that storm is FINALLY leaving us. For a hurricane1/tropical storm it was BAD. I don't think we can just go on what number is assigned to a hurricane anymore. We finally got power a couple of hours ago, THANK GOD! We didn't have any major damage here, but some parishes around us did. I just viewed some of the flooding pictures and it is incredibile! Then, I read that there may still be some coastal flooding and there is a chance of nontropical rain tomorrow. :(

I hope the Great State of Louisiana gets all the help you need. We are still paying attention to your plight. Hang in there.

Major source news is saying that President Obama is coming and also Mr. Romney.

The news photos of people wading through several feet of water are heart-wrenching-can't imagine.. Glad you are doing well.

I think that emergency ops systems are improving over time.

I wonder if Leslie will have any effects on Isaac when/if it emerges off the east/southeast coast considering Leslie will be slow moving in a couple of days.

Got word Thursday that my coworker and good friend lost his home in Isaac. He had to work remotely from LaPlace due to a sick mother-in-law. He says he's going to rebuild farther away from water. Hurricanes follow him wherever he goes. He had just moved to Biloxi before Georges hit in '98. Moved to New Orleans just before Katrina, then moved to Houston just before Ike hit. Now he moves back to New Orleans just before Isaac hit.

Wow, unbelievable, poor guy.
I heard similar stories from people that moved away from Nola to LaPlace thinking that they were going to be safer from a storm surge.

According to the Wikipedia page (trust if you want,) 41 died directly so far from the storm, three indirectly, mostly in Haiti. 3 billion is the estimated damage at this point.
Country/Region Deaths
Dominican Republic 5
Haiti 29
Puerto Rico 0 (1)
Florida 0 (2)
Louisiana 5
Mississippi 2
Total 41 (3)

I'm no expert, everything I say should be taken with a large amount of salt. I could easily be very, very wrong.
