I don't think baby face is that crazy to start a war. He is just a spoiled brat throwing a temper tantrum. If he does decide to start the shooting then he is getting very poor advise....MGC

For those of you who would like more info on what it is like inside North Korea, I suggest you check out National Geographic's special "Inside North Korea" with Lisa Ling. It really opened my eyes to just how cut off from the rest of the world they are and how crazy loyal they are forced to be. The documentary is about six years old and is during Kim Jong Il's reign, but I trust much hasn't changed since then.

U.S Defense Secretary says North Korean Threats "A real and clear danger"

Things are boiling right now and any miscalculation may cause a war to start.

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said Wednesday that North Korea's latest provocations are "a real and clear danger and threat" to U.S. interests and Washington is taking them seriously.

"We are doing everything we can ... to defuse that situation on the peninsula," Hagel said after a speech at the National Defense University at Fort McNair.

"I hope the North will ratchet this very dangerous rhetoric down," he said, adding that there is a pathway to peace but only if Pyongyang decides to be "a responsible member of the world community."

The U.S. has responded to the diplomatic crisis with more than words, dispatching two warships to the western Pacific to be on alert for missiles and conducting bomber and fighter flyovers.

Defense officials also said an advanced anti-ballistic missile system will be sent to the U.S. military base in Guam in response to North Korean threats targeting Guam and U.S. military facilities in the region.

The system -- which includes missiles, launchers, radar and communications -- is expected to arrive within two weeks.

To be honest, I'm glad the US is calling the bluff this time instead of trading aid to get them to shut up for a year.

North Korea moves mid-range missile to it's east coast

(Reuters) - North Korea has moved what appears to be a mid-range Musudan missile to its east coast, South Korea's Yonhap news agency said on Thursday, quoting multiple government sources privy to intelligence from U.S. and South Korean authorities.

It was not clear if the missile was mounted with a warhead or whether the North was planning to fire it or was just putting it on display as a show of force, one South Korean government source was quoted as saying.

"South Korean and U.S. intelligence authorities have obtained indications the North has moved an object that appears to be a mid-range missile to the east coast," the source said.

The Musudan missile is believed to have a range of 3,000 km (1,875 miles) or more, which would put all of South Korea and Japan in range and possibly also the U.S. territory of Guam in the Pacific Ocean. North Korea is not believed to have tested these mid-range missiles, according to most independent experts

South Korea's defense ministry declined to comment.

North Korea has threatened a nuclear strike on the United States and missile attacks on its Pacific bases, including in Guam. Those threats followed new U.N. sanctions imposed on the North after it carried out its third nuclear test in February.

The missile was moved to the coast by train. The North has a missile launch site on the northeastern coast, which it has used to unsuccessfully test-fire long-range rockets in the past.

The Yonhap report did not say if the missile had been moved to the missile site.

Japan's Asahi Shimbun newspaper issued a similar report on Thursday, saying the North had moved what appeared to be a long-range missile to its east coast.

Coming from someone who works at the biggest News Station in Japan just a skip, jump and hop away from NK, plus someone who has lived on the Pen for 6month participating in numerous drills over two years I can honestly say this is all smoke blowing.

NK is not that stupid and if Kim Il did anything he knows he would loose his seat in power. That really is what this is about, him gaining support from his citizens whom he promised better living conditions yet they still go hungry. Well you need to blame someone else how about the big and evil USA. Most of the world hates them anyways.

Regardless this is mostly internal politics, on that note do I think hes dangerous and a threat. Yes, absolutely. If you live in SK near the border then yes. A city with a population bigger than NYC lies just miles away from the border (Seoul) if he wanted to attack something it would be that. But they know better in the North. A attack on the south would lead to a automatic attack from powers abroad, granted China would likely have the norths back but lately they have been backing off a bit. If anything a Ku would likely form and throw the top leaders out of power. Hell there has already been a few assassination attempts on Il himself from people inside the government.

Yeah. Russia was one of the warned.

North Korea asked Russia on Friday to consider evacuating staff from its embassy in Pyongyang because of increasing tension on the Korean peninsula, a spokesman for the embassy said by phone from Pyongyang.

Denis Samsonov said Russia was examining the request, but was not planning an evacuation at this stage. There were no outward signs of increased tension in the North Korean capital itself.

Obama talks for the first time since this new wave of threats from NK began two weeks ago. Also there is new U.S intelligence that believes NK has advanced it's nuclear arsenal.

North Korea may have nuclear missile capabilities, according to a report from one of the intelligence agencies in the Pentagon:
http://www.nytimes.com/2013/04/12/world ... w-bna&_r=0

WASHINGTON — A new assessment of North Korea’s nuclear capability conducted by the Pentagon’s intelligence arm has concluded for the first time, with “moderate confidence,” that the country has learned how to make a nuclear weapon small enough to be delivered by a ballistic missile.

-Not really a surprise to me. Everyone always seems to think that they openly test their most technologically advanced equipment. Even the U.S. doesn't do that! They could have pretty advanced stuff, untested, that they're saving as their ace. Parts of the technology can be tested here and there with different missile launches, small nuclear detonations, then all combined later on if needed. Play dumb long enough, and your enemies might just start believing it!

Personally, I think that if NK launches a missile, the US or one of the allies should take it out. NK would not be expecting that to happen and my guess is the little fat kid would back down fast when told what he is doing is unacceptable and will not be tolerated anymore JMHO

North Korea is using 20th century political technology to enhance maintain a historically based feudal dynasty lead by Generals. During the age of the Three Kingdoms this type of political structure was used successfully to unite the peninsula. The shaping of the education system of the country allows the political structure to operate within the understood norms of the this culture.

NK launches three short range missiles but there is not a concern as they were launched in the direction away from South Korea.

http://edition.cnn.com/2013/05/18/world ... ?hpt=hp_t1

(CNN) -- North Korea launched three short-range guided missiles into the sea off the Korean Peninsula's east coast Saturday, South Korea's semi-official news agency Yonhap cited the South Korean Defense Ministry as saying.

The ministry said it had detected two launches in the morning, followed by another in the afternoon, Yonhap reported.

The missiles were fired in a northeasterly direction, away from South Korean waters, the ministry said.
