Hope your chances have worked out better today. So far we are up over 3" since midnight here in Houston and it is still raining steadily. Looks like we have at least a couple more hours to go till it lets up and finally stops. Hoping for a nice weekend. Looking way forward, wondering if the snow possibility on the 30th shown in the GFS model yesterday is lala land or not. Certainly not holding my breath waiting for it. Currently 53F and moderate rain. :cold:
.
edit 2:15pm: Rain has stopped. Additional 0.94" in the gauge since my report to CoCoRahs of 2.77" this am. Total= 3.73" so far from this system. Official record shattered for this date. Was 2.35". Now it will be 3.05.

Interesting weather day this morning just had a tornado warned cell pass directly overhead! Could detect some possible rotation in the low clouds but it doesn't look like there was ever a touch down. I see blue skies coming out now which could destabilize us further for this afternoon. Stay safe everyone!

It sure looks like we are going to be enjoying our traditional liquid snow down here for the next few days. I guess this is natures way of making me stay indoors and get these Christmas decorations put away. LOL

Bottomed out at 22.6 at the house just after 7am, looks like we were 23 officially at the airport. Very cold temps for any winter around here. Maybe some sleet/freezing rain tomorrow morning? We'll see!

Any thoughts and predictions on this minor weather event for SW LA?

I am a teacher in West Baton Rouge Parish. Wishing they would do the same for us. We haven't used any of our days this year and this is clearly our last chance. Might as well us one. :) I know we are just missing out, though. This is the most aggravating system as far as being SO CLOSE. And the coastal Low that will come through on Wednesday, ugh. With colder air in place it could have been a HUGE event.

Do what!? Whoever makes these called should be fired. Lafayette is not even in any kind of advisory with only a 30-40% chance of showers. Such a joke. Just a matter of time before they start canceling school due to t-storms.

I can top that one - schools are closed in Vermilion Parish - we're on the coast.

Wednesday is looking to be over an inch of QPF with temps in mid to upper 30s. Seriously? That is so depressing.

Wow! I'm speechless. Good thing school is not in during the peak of summer. With heat and drought they would be shut down for weeks

I know - I'm pretty speechless as well. For years when I was teaching, we had to go in flooding conditions, sleet, etc., but now they close for just cold rain. I couldn't believe it - I suppose the new supt. doesn't want early morning calls or he's being overly cautious. Anyway, it surprised me as well.

Just this past Saturday, my Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns had their Sunday baseball game moved to a double header on Saturday because it was forecasted to rain on Sunday. HAHAHAHA! It was partly cloudy and sunshine! Welcome to the wussification of America. :rain: :flag:

And we were playing StonyBrook which is located on Long Island. They must have been laughing pretty hard at us!!!

They did that for the LSU baseball game as well. Played golf sunday in the mid 70's with abundant sunshine.

Pussification of America indeed. Oh and how about that ice storm for SW and central LA last night and this morning. I tell you it was brutal, cloudy and temps in the low to mid 30's. Next time better shut the entire state down

Well my Louisiana friends are in fact still alive and well. Nice to hear from you. I've pretty much stayed on the Texas thread reading there since I was the only one on this one.

Calcasieu, Cameron, Jeff Davis, Allen and Beauregard parish schools were closed Tuesday as well. Even our gov't, Colleges and city gov't buildings were closed. It's just one of those things that a few degrees could have made a huge impact. Oh well, I hope everyone enjoyed their extra day off.

This evening around 5:10 the sun finally peeked through the heavy cloud cover and was absolutely blinding. I am the type of person that could never live in a place without abundant sunshine. I have to have it. Now, I can't wait to complain about the heat. This cold weather is not helping this crawfish season. I'm dying for some good sized boiled crawfish.LOL

It looks like the Gulf Coast might see more wintry weather Wednesday & Thursday. Northern areas the confidence is fairly high although southerly coastal areas a bit lower possibilies.

I've been reading the thread but winter's been quite dull this year. :Chit:
