Storm 2K does funny things to my computer

#1 Postby coriolis » Sun Feb 23, 2003 11:52 am

When I'm on storm 2K sometimes the icons in my systray disappear and the space turns white. The icons return when i move my mouse over the space (without clicking). I also get a white space in the bottom bar on the left, next to the fast start icons. I suspect that this is related to the countdown clock but I'm not sure. Also sometimes the countdown clock creates a white space that moves down as I scrool. I'll be watching more carefully to see exactly when this happens. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?
I'm running windows ME (ugh) on a gateway with an AMD 500 & 256M RAM, and a cable modem.
PS My internet security settings are set in the middle of the range. Maybe the Active X, Java, or scripting settings need to be different?

We've had no other reports of this type of thing happening. Does this happen all the time or is it intermittent? When it happens does rebooting your computer fix it?

You might try the Blue Lagoon template as a test. It doesn't have the countdown clock on it. If that is the issue you may need to update your Java software. Let me know and we'll see if we can help you track it down! :D

Thanks, MF.
I changed to Blue Lagoon, and the phenomenon seems to have ceased. However this color scheme hurts my eyes. There's no pleasing some people! I might try that java update. I know that recently I downloaded and installed a whole big java package. If this comes back or if I have any more questions, I'll be back.
Thanks again.

Weird, coriolis...I wonder if it may be your Windows ME...? Just
trying to brainstorm it...I have an "old" nearly 4-yr. old Compaq
Presario...but, I don't think computer brand has anything to do
with it - but, I'm still plugging along on Win98...it may be your
OS. LoL, Chad and Marshall know that Blue Lagoon is my
favorite template - the failing eyes can see the "contrast",
better, which helps me to FIND you folks! :ggreen:

Good luck!

who knows, Breeze? I do get frustrated with ME. This 'puter is a few years old too. Of course every computer I ever had was second hand! I got this one from someone who couldn't make payments on it. So I can't call the mfrs. customer support - if you know what I mean....

Have you tried Classic? It's a little easier on the eyes IMO. Has the problem resurfaced? We here to help if it has... :D

Blue Lagoon is working ok. Wasn't that the name of a movie?
I think that ME stands for "Many Emergencies."
