As a weather enthusiast I am fascinated/frustrated at how often we in Baton Rouge miss a major winter event by 2-4 degrees. It's been at least 5 times in the last 3 years.
Currently 34 and POURING rain at my place

Looks like just rain for the entirety of the system south of I-85 in Georgia, the models seem to have jumped significantly north over the last run or two.

:uarrow: Yeah after seeing the 12Z GFS run from this morning, I noticed the warm nose which seemed to shift just a bit north. I agree that areas along and north of Interstate 85 from AL to NC will see the significant snow impacts. I posted about this back on Wednesday about this being the I-85 winter storm for the South, and it is looking like that is likely how it is going to pan out.

Hope things are better for folks in Georgia than here. Even though radar says different, just a cold rain here.

I'd keep an eye on that, it could be freezing rain because last Feb I think we were shaded in purple and we ended up losing power due to ice accumulation.

We have been steady at 35 all day. I drove up to Birmingham to see snow, sleet anything. Nothing.

34 and light sleet here about 50 miles north of the ms coast. Imagine things are going to deteriorate in a few hours. Hopefully I can make it home in Time!

I expect things to get bad as well, there is a lot of water on the roads. Black ice will be a problem as the temps drop.

Hang tight. I'm not so convinced on heavy snow entirely, but there should at least be some heavy sleet/snow mix within the next couple hours.

yeah even in Texas I've been watching this one.

What should Winder expect? I'm not trusting the NWS 3-4" forecast at this point given how the models have been trending.

I can verify about Tuscaloosa, my niece goes to school there. If I can figure out how to post a picture I will.

850mb 0C is still a little well to the N/NW in Georgia. HRRR has a mix by midnight to 1am then a brief period of light snow afterwards at WDR

I still watch the weather over there, it's just lately the winter events especially have been lacking. lol. I've seen more snow here than my parents have in Alabama since I left(and I don't see the streak ending tonight)
