2017 It's only the 7th Atlantic season to have more than 1 category 5 hurricane and it's only the 2nd time that 2 hurricanes make landfall at that intensity in the same season.

Does anyone know of any webcams or twitter reports coming out of Dominica that I can follow? Also I am trying to get he Q95.1 station to work but it keeps saying connection when I click on the listen now. Do I have to be a member to that site? Or download any software to listen to that station?

Be ready for this one. Hoping you do well and stay dry and safe.
and best wishes to all others in our neighboring islands who may be affected by Maria.
We are hoping in St Maarten that we only get tropical storm force winds. Still, we prepare for everything.
Good luck to all! Hoping fair weather is just around the corner!

Thanks to you my dear friend Barbara be safe and dry after catastropic's Irma nightmare!

The anchor from Q95 is anchoring from outside the country to maintain coverage.

I wonder what the record is for intensification in, say, a 5 hour period?

There really needs to be a sepereate thread just for links to reports, web cams, chasers, etc. no discussion just the info..

Re: ATL: MARIA - Hurricane - Discussion
I'm afraid tomorrow's reports will be ugly. You have a deepening Cat 5 slicing straight through a small island that's highly elevated.
Not only will the winds be more powerful than at sea level, you'll also see catastrophic flooding and mudslides along the way.

It is back, Q95. If it tells you only with the app now, just hit refresh and the play button and it works again without downloading the app.

Forrest '83 and Wilma '05 may be the best starting points. Storms like Felix '07, Genevieve '14, and the preliminary data for Noru '17 may also be worth a look.

Re: ATL: MARIA - Hurricane - Discussion
the wobble to the NW has had it over land a little longer.. but latest radar has it about to emerge offshore in about the next hour or less.

Dr. Rick Nabb at TWC pretty much reinforcing the idea that anyone from Florida up the east coast should continue to watch this.
