Not just the eyewall, but specifically the NE quad if the Euro holds true. I really hope they are prepared. What's the expected impact timeline for Puerto Rico?
Is that a good thing or a bad thing?
Really bad. Someone will have to verify or correct, but a NW traveling system will put the heaviest winds going right on top of San Juan. If you look at a due north traveling system, the NE Quad will usually have the heaviest winds.

Not looking good for Puerto Rico. Any info on how many shelters are available and filled up? Any way to get a mass evacuation this late if they are full? Whats the plan??
I read the other day they had 450 shelters that can hold a maximum of 125k people packed in (total max) They are trying to evacuate coastal towns. I found this article a little bit ago, it says 120k can be in shelters. http://www.npr.org/2017/09/18/551897269/hurricane-maria-spins-toward-puerto-rico

If I were living in PR and couldn't get off the island, I get myself to the west side ASAP and into a shelter. Not a guarantee of anything but probably the best chance. The US VI on the other hand...well I hope they got off that island.

That is sad. Is it not mandatory or will they wait until this afternoon?
Not true. The governor announced that police will begin to forceably remove people in high risk areas. They will begin at noon today.

This buoy is getting sustained hurricane force winds and gusting to near 90mph now, with 31 foot waves The eye looks like it will pass directly over or close to it.

Wow, look at the expansion of the outflow in the southern part of Maria in the last 30 minutes.

Radio Amateur on St. Lucia Relays Reports of Hurricane Devastation on Dominica

As “potentially catastrophic Hurricane Maria” is headed for the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. Frans van Santbrink, J69DS, on St. Lucia checked into the VoIP Hurricane Net to relay damage reports he gathered via repeater conversations with hams on Dominica, which was hit by Category 5 Hurricane Maria.
He recounted a damage report from Kerry Fevrier, J69YH, in Roseau, Dominica. “Trees down, river has flooded half the village, cars are all over, most houses have lost their roofs or are destroyed, the area between his house and the church is just flattened…in his words, ‘devastation is total,’” van Santbrink told the net.

Looks like the center missed the buoy by a bit. Minimum pressure reported 956 mb with no eye-type winds and back on the way up. 10 minute samples though, it could have gone lower.

Got to say, it's pretty quiet here considering we have a category 5 hurricane on its way to hit Puerto Rico tomorrow...

I didn't imagine that I was going to make another post like this one but we are in record territory wih Irma and Maria being cat 5's almost in the same area.I guess this time I will be without power for a longer period of time as it will be a direct hit.Hopefully things are not too bad but is a cat 4-5 so let's hope for the best.See all soon.

Thinking a lot of people aren't really sure what to think right now, and still a few of the regulars are probably without power from Irma, or are busy still cleaning up from Harvey and Irma.

I just got off the phone with my dad in Aguirre, he is staying in his home. He is about 1.5 miles from the ocean. He did not want to leave. He might go to his neighbor across the street. It will be a very worrisome time for all the family not in PR worrying about all of you in PR. My stomach is in knots over this storm. Sending prayers to everyone in Puerto Rico, hope she doesn't destroy too much of our beautiful island. Stay safe Cycloneye and check in when you can.

I think people are just burnt out from this season. Having said that, my wishes that Hurricane Maria misses Puerto Rico to the North.
