Another noteworthy feature: Harvey broke the US drought of major hurricanes after 11 years, with Irma following the former a few weeks later over South Florida. All predictions have underestimated this season and sadly, it is a dangerous one indeed.

Not "all" predictions  Take a look back at the pre-season Atlantic Hurricane Season Poll (though, if "all" referring to professional organizations than yes i'd agree with that statement)

I don't think anyone expected 200 ACE. I'm focused on the ACE/intensity over the storm count itself

Likewise...
And does anyone know how many years back ( if so where to find ) the data for ACE is available? I'd be interested to see if it fits some sort of sine wave function? Would be interesting as that'd shead some light into the cyclical nature of seasons overall

This post was probably an opinion of mine, and in no way is official. Please refer to http://www.hurricanes.gov for official tropical analysis and advisories.

As of 1 October, GWO managed to got it on hurricanes, but we managed to pass MH's. It's pretty likely that it will also nail on landfalls pretty soon (also named storms) and we also got THREE MAJOR IMPACT HURRICANES. Wow GWO....

My opinions are mine and SHOULD not be treated as an official source of information. PLEASE see National Hurricane Center, or any other meteorological agencies, for that matter. By the way, I was born and came from Indonesia, which is rarely hit by tropical cyclones, but regardless, I have LOTS of interest in meteorology.

Season shows signs of quieting down though- it has been over 2 weeks now without a new name. But we will probably see another burst of activity later this month.

Except now another one is developing.

Don't trust anyone that can't provide past verification. Anyone can predict a bad season and if you do it enough one year you'll be right.
