Wow very impressive, down here in Boca temp has significantly dropped in just the past hour. We have managed to avoid this cold down here in South Florida but our time has finally come. Not looking forward the next few days of this cold. :cold:

I drove another 20 miles up to Darien Ga. Now I am in moderate snow with sleet pellets mixed in. It is beautiful
33.1 degrees.

Even here where I’m at in The Bahamas it’s windy with sustained SSW winds @ 21mph with higher gusts. Finally it looks as if the sun is popping out and things are clearing out here (hopefully) as it is partly to mostly cloudy right now.

That was one heck of a so called Nor’easter it seemed like yesterday! Heck, it sounded ALMOST like a hurricane out there last evening and another nearby island reported a wind gust of about 50mph at around 3am this morning before things quieted down quickly for a bit.

Should be an interesting day tomorrow coming back to highs struggling to reach the upper 50’s in West Palm tomorrow and yet another downright cold night tomorrow night with lows in the upper 30’s again.

Yes, this winter season is shaping up to be more impressive than last years no-show winter.

It couldn't make up its mind between the sleet and snow for awhile but finally transitioned to all snow here within the last 30 minutes or so. And now it is heavy and beautiful! Yay! Down to 27.3 here.

Just an amazing experience, the snow was really heavy for a good hour, huge flakes & wind, my kids had a blast. Snow is about to end.

Glad y'all in Georgia are seeing some snow! There looked to be a good amount of snow in Waycross and Alma. Enough to build a small snowman and have snowball fights. The storm really picked up speed by 11:30 and was out around my locale near 1:30. So no snow or flurries. However, it was nice to whiteness this amazing and historic event.

:uarrow: Yes I have made it back safely back at my house after going up into Southeast Georgia. I planned to initially drive to Waycross, but the Georgia State Patrol closed U.S.Hwy 1 for access into the city. I learned that driving up on the radio.

So, I proceeded to drive up I-95 to head to GA Hwy 25. From Brunswick to Jesup. Well, the overpasses got so slick earlier this morning due to the freezing rain as I saw numerous cars wrecked on the top of two overpasses driving northbound.

So I made the decision to jump off the next exit I saw, which was U.S. Hwy 17 just south of Brunswick.

I waited there for nearly 3 hours for the changeover to occur there. I was monitoring the Intellicast radar all morning, and saw that the precipitation field was moving through much faster than anticipated. I had to act fast, so I got in the car and drove up I-95 another 20 miles or so to Darien. Just as I was getting off that exit, the changeover from sleet and rain to finally snow. Lol.. I almost waited too late and nearly missed seeing it before the precip pulled out from south to north.

There was quite a bit of slush in Darien when I left around 1:15 this afternoon, and they got a good dusting of snow. I will post video once I settle in and rest after my little winter storm chase lol..

I am aware that Alma and Waycross got decent snow accumulations, and I am awaiting to hear from NDG and Larry how much snow accumulated up.in Savannah.

It was worth the very quick drive to see the snow, and I feel rewarded taking it all in after putting another feather in the old cap by calling for this winter storm to develop since back before Christmas! I would rank this coup right there with me calling for Joaquin's development without no.model support back in 2015.

Awesome, its definitely worth it and thanks for the update. I remember that before I joined Storm2k, and you saw it coming. Its all in the details. Yeah snow accumulated pretty fast up there. Nice pic from NDG and seeing some nice ones on the news and from friends on Facebook. My concern for tonight is the hard freeze and how some puddles, wet roads or water on trees that didn't dry will become ice.

Edit: There were some flurries falling an hour ago. There's still some moisture around and its getting colder.

In summary, I had freezing rain for like 4 hours (that started 6:15 AM) and then hour+ of sleet. Then went back and forth between sleet and snow. Then finally all snow about 12:30. Total accumulation about 1.5" of sleet and snow plus close to 0.25" ZR. This was easily the biggest winter storm here since 12/1989. After it was finished, I took a very enjoyable walk and really soaked this in.

Spanish moss and snow is quite the combo. I'm eagerly anticipating the upcoming warming trend.

29.3 degrees at 6:30 a.m . The polar plunge and cold air advection will get stronger again tomorrow as another re-informing surge comes down the pike .

Friday morning could be the coldest morning we have experienced down here in years! Friday morning minimum temps forecast to be near 20 degrees interior North Florida, to the mid to upper 20s out to the coast. Areas in the Panhandle and Big Bend region could see upper teens.

Checking the in a at 6:30 a.m., Orlando International Airport is reporting 33 degrees, Daytona Beach 30 degrees, Lakeland 28 degrees, Brooksville down to 24 degrees! Wow! They are notorious for their cold air drainage, similar to Crestview over in the Panhandle region, and that is the case exhibited there this.morning.

So, this event will be a major cold spell for all of Florida peninsula. All of Central Florida to rght along and areas near the I-4 corridor ate seeing temperatures at or below freezing just for this morning. Friday morning could be even colder for the region.

Down in South Florida this morning. At the hour, Fort Pierce reporting 35 degrees, West Palm Beach reporting 38 degrees, as well as Fort Myers, Fort Lauderdale 40 degrees, and Miami International Airport 45 degrees.

Key West checks in at 57 degrees

33.8 degrees back in my neighborhood wx station in north Orlando, it surprised me how the winds calmed down thus a good radiational cooling took place.

Here in Savannah is 21 degrees at the airport, 23 in the city, mid to upper teens just outside of Savannah into southern SC because of the snow cover!

Good Morning,
I'm trying to get info on winter storm Grayson, currently off of Massachusetts. I appreciate the info I get here for for Florida hurricanes, and I'm surprised, after thoroughly searching, I can't find a forum/thread for such an impressive winter storm. Can anyone point me to the correct thread? And, aren't the new Goes-16 satellite images amazing? https://www.star.nesdis.noaa.gov/GOES/index.php
Thanks!

My thermometer (not that far from MIA airport) got 44 degrees this morning, so that seems about in line. Chilly for us, but not historically cold. It's 57 right now, but in full sun, that 57 degrees feels reasonably warm. I took the jacket off and walked around in short sleeves. Wouldn't be surprised if it got to 60 or so with all the hot sun.

It'll be interesting to see if MIA can finally crack below the 40 degree barrier (haven't done it in a few years) tonight if this is to be the "radiational cooling" night of this affair. NWS Miami has a low of "around 41," and sometimes that means 43, sometimes it means 39. Probably will depend on if the wind can calm down enough.

Yeah got down to 41F here in Boca Raton near the coast so rather chilly. Curious if we make it to the 30s or not tonight. Looks like some frost potential out west.
