just saw the forecast. WTF??

Just wait, it’ll change. It has been 2-3 times a day, each one completely different than the last.

If I don’t see some measurable snow soon, I’m going to move to Tahoe City.

Well it looks like much of Texas is going to get some rain over the next couple weeks, but nothing compared to what points east of here are going to get.

This is the thickest drizzle I've seen in a while. Everything's been soaked the hours. Serious light overrunning. Moisture just keeps condensing but never getting heavy.

Don't think I've seen such a difference b/w the NAM and GFS re: QPF over the coming 3-4 days :double:

Euro & EPS say 4 - 8" of rain for DFW over the next 10 days. However, things continue to look pretty mild.

The good news is that it appears to keep at least some cold on our side of the globe and directed right down the spine of the Rockies into the southern plains, although check out the expanse of cold across Europe into Asia

Well, I did my best in bringing everyone from NE TX to Austin to SE TX a cold, icy winter. However, I'm afraid there isn't much more I can do as far as winter weather in Texas. Euro ensembles indicate above-normal temps through February, and I'm inclined to agree. My cold-mongering coworker even agrees. Possibly a cold front in early March, but we may have seen our last freeze in Houston.

@ orangeblood,

I would have to side with the NAM, seems as the forecasted rain gets closer the less likely it happens.

There’s a huge difference in precipitation totals between the Euro and GFS. Which one should we believe?

To me it looks like a below average next few weeks with plenty of precip. PNA going negative finally, EPO may be going positive though models have shown this many times and it has not happened and NAO/AO goes negative as the SSW event flexes its muscles. I would say wintery weather is very possible. Next week has potential though PNA may be too negative with too positive of a NAO. Later in the month still has good potential especially if the PNA stays closer to neutral. We are moving into a very Nino esque pattern with highs near or below average and lows near to above average with little to no sun and lots of rain. Anytime the PNA slips back toward neutral then we will turn chilly with some of the best Atlantic blocking we have seen in a long time. This will finally give the SW some drought relief.
