Folks from Round Rock to Lakeway??

Training stormms N&W of Austin all morning, ive recorded near 1/2" . Surprise rain again LOL

I went out for a run this morning. A few sprinkles. Dry streets. When I finished and got in house, it started pouring with lightning and thunder. I got lucky it didn't get me while running. Didn't expect this at all! Nice surprise. My yard has puddles now. Over 2 inches since last Tuesday .

My part of Austin hasn't seen as much as other areas over the past several days. These storms develop and move in very narrow paths. I mean littetally within a mile or so either to the west or to the east of the Rain Cave, other than getting glancing edge rainfall it's been pretty dull. I can't complain though considering many areas have seen nice amounts. I have not checked my gauges yet today but despite getting the short end of the stick, I've had over an inch as if yesterday so I'm fine with that. Plus there are some more chances ahead.

The last few runs of the GEFS have been trending "snowier" for northern Texas and Oklahoma.

Euro control looks similar with big winter storm across Ok and down to the Red River.

Both Tuesday & Wednesday look to have some svr potential for DFW depending on how things evolve over the next 30 - 48 hrs. Also, DFW looks to have a really good shot to go over 7" and make a run at the February monthly rainfall record.

I will be driving up to Dallas, Sherman, and Fort Worth on Thursday through Friday for a work trip. I'll be staying the night in Sherman. Looks like sunny skies with lows in the mid-30s with highs in the 50s up in Sherman by Thursday through Friday.

Guess I'll just miss out on some storm chasing opportunities the couple days prior.

Sunny, with a high near 57. North wind 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Mostly clear, with a low around 35. North wind 5 to 10 mph becoming east after midnight.

Very slim chance of any additional winter weather in NE TX. Wouldn't rule it out completely, but it would take a significant pattern change by mid March or so. Azaleas are blooming in Houston, robins are heading back north. Nature is telling us that spring is coming sooner rather than later.

I'd say you're definitely in NE TX, but your chances of any additional winter weather are a little higher than the DFW area. Bluebonnets are starting to bloom in SE TX, and I had the first report of a June bug this past weekend.

This will likely be my final post in the winter thread. For my personal opinion, this was a real winter. It reminded me of winter in the 1980s. We had snow, we had ice, we had sleet. Overall we had longer periods of cooler weather instead of 1-2 days of cold then a quick warm-up. December was good in the precipitation department, Jan not so much. This month really depended on location for who got more rain and who got less. I think we saw a little of everything here in the Austin area.

Now my focus will turn to Spring (my favorite season of the year). Big questions are how much rain will we see?
Will this spring be a slow warm up or will we return to the more extreme temp variations from day to day? What will the severe storm season be like? I have a sneaking suspicion that we saw a preview and that locally we may be more times than not on the tail end of these systems which is fairly typical of La Niña. Hopefully we are seeing the beginning of the end with that. Still will be dealing with the atmospheric effects into the summer. Anywho I will see everyone over in the spring thread and to those who mostly post in Winter, hope to see you again next winter.

WF is far from NE TX in the sense we use it in NE TX. NE TX is Paris on east and north of I-20. WF is NW TX or West Central.
