Nearly 6 inches of rain fell at DFW Airport last week, pushing the monthly total to 6.55". Another 0.01" has fallen so far today (through 8 am). This is the 3rd wettest February for Dallas/Fort Worth out of 120 years of records. The winter currently ranks as 8th wettest.

Quit bragging to Central Texas ! :)

I've been MIA due to travel and despite icicles in Lago Vista and a decent ice storm back in Sherman I'd wondered what happened to our winter hopes and dreams. Then I got a look at wxman57's avatar...

But then, he also thinks the Falls is in Northeast Texas. :P

And this is so misleading - take out last week, and we've had 5" of rain this Winter. Rather dry except for one week of the entire season. At least our lakes are full. :D

Yeah, not looking good for much rain today. Very scattered. A brief shower over my house per radar but didn't even register anything in the rain gauge. Here's hoping tomorrow is better. Kind of want to break the record.

Just checked the NAM and the Tech WRF. I have a strong hunch we will not break the rain record and tomorrow will be another scattered storms day with more stuff east of DFW.

Yeah, I was just looking at the radar and most of the rain today is either north or east of Dallas, there is a small band of showers that might clip southern Tarrant but the bulk has been across Dallas and parts east.

5" in winter is actually pretty good considering dry season. If I told you 2/3 winter months were wetter than normal in a La Nina we'd all be jumping for joy! On top of that we got a top 10 wettest winter ever!

This time of the year all the way through April might be my least favorite time of the whole year. I’m out in the middle of nowhere on a farm and there is nothing to protect us from the wind around here. It seems like every day from mid to late February through late April is crazy windy around here. The only kind of wind I get excited about is if it’s from a storm, otherwise it’s just a big nuisance.

Yep, springtime is typically the windiest time of the year across TX. Lots of southerly flow leads to many breezy days.

Reminder

Today is the last day to post in here for winter. Through deliberation with the other Texas mods the decision has been made that we will all migrate to the Texas Spring Thread tomorrow to begin March-April-May the next trimonthly as we have done. This will end another winter chapter. All posts as general discussion will be moved if made on here.

At this rate, is winter pretty much over? No real chances of any snow left?

Can't rule out the chance of any additional snow, but the chances are dropping fast to well under 5%.

I would say the second half of this week may be wetter than the first half. Linkage to the tropical Pacific looks better and precip may actually come out of Mexico vs earlier in the week when we were too dependent on dry line/front etc.

Kind of frustrating that the current GFS isn't showing any cold or freeze to 384 hours.
