I was down at Blind Pass about a month ago. Red Tide was worse then I've ever seen. I hadn't heard much news in the last few weeks though (I live in Orlando so our news may not cover W. Coast local as much). Is it really still bad over there?

Yes, pretty bad. It's been between Bradenton to Naples all summer and has recently migrated to include Pinellas
So bad that fishing for Reds and Snook is now catch and release only. They just scooped 17 tons of fish off beaches and waters in Pinellas. Its killing our tourism, fishing industry, restaurants etc.. a mild storm would wipe it out or we have to wait for first cold front

It was in relation to the Euro showing the system moving into east gom and how that could benefit wiping out red tide.we can move on now.

Issac appears to be reduced to a naked swirl of low level clouds now - may not survive as a tropical cyclone much longer.

It's not only a "Storm Discussion" but specifically an Isaac Storm Discussion

The latest GFS disagrees with Isaac, and sends a nearly Cat 1 toward Cuba.

The COD in mode standby

http://www.microsofttranslator.com/bv.a ... 502900.php

The prefecture is also preparing to the passage of the storm Isaac. The departmental operations centre (COD) is enabled, but it is now in standby mode. The interdepartmental service defence and civil protection, which the parent and deals with crisis management, is a drill.

He prepares all the logistics of the COD, checks once more all the coordinates of the referents. It is binding constant, by mail and phone, with the Commons. His role: manage all of the difficulties that might arise. For example to raise Commons at the risk of collapse of cliffs with cyclonic swells.

At present, he works to spread the forces based on the evolution of the cyclonic phenomenon. Emergency and security forces are being be strengthened in the islands of the South, which, according to trajectory projections, could be more strongly affected.

As the situation evolves and if she requires, the prefect Philippe Gustin, decide on physical activation of the COD. All emergency services (fire, ambulance, regional health agency), law enforcement (police and gendarmerie), as well as operators networks (EDF, roads in Guadeloupe...), will then together in crisis in the prefecture.

Yeah when I posted, the run had not finished. It's an interesting run for sure.

Yep, Gusty, I see that. Also the Prime Minister here has called in extra Dutch marines from Aruba and Curacao as a precaution. After what happened here with Irma, no one is taking this lightly.

I’ll believe solutions such as the 12z GFS when I see it! This right now is the current state that Isaac is in.
