Is there any hints of a circulation though? I'd laugh if we get to Dolly before the season even begins.

Looks like some frontal energy dropped quite far south into the gulf.
Probably once the shear lets up the convection will just lose its lift but there are some cold cloud tops there now.

Don't think anything tropical will come of this but definitely wouldn't wanna be out in Western half of the Gulf today. What a mess.

Re: Convection in northern Gulf
Well, if convection continues to persist during this weekend in the GOM, then it may be something to keep an eye on.
It seems that we have a system that pops up and develops without any model support every once and awhile out there. So, you never know!

Too much shear for now in the Gulf, come back in another week or two.

We wiill have a system apart from this one in the GOM in about a week or so, if the models I rely on are close to being right.

I find it interesting that some people say there is no chance of this forming, yet a lot of mets are saying that this has a pretty good chance of forming once it reaches the BoC and then come back up by the end of the week.

This blob of convection has no connection to the possible TCG in the gulf next week.

That's the CAG. This thread is about a bunch of sheared clouds currently over the Gulf.
