I’m going with five as well, also due to the 10/60 AEW. Josephine will be the only thing in the first half of August, but the lid will come off in the second half of the month.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Went with five. My thinking is along the line of others: we get Josephine in the next few days from the 20/60 AEW, then we have a lull in activity for the first half of August, except for a brief TS in the subtropics. The 'real season' (which is weird to say, given what we've already seen at this point) starts in the backside of the month, where we go 3/2/1, with a late forming hurricane that goes on to become the second major of the season in the first few days of September.

I’m going with four with 1-2 hurricanes and maybe a major in the last week. Can’t rule out 5 or more though after the record active July in terms of named storms.

Voted four, though the range could be 4-6. I'm expecting most of them to occur in the latter part of the month and the bulk of the season's activity (which will probably be quite a lot) will occur in September and October.

Going with 5 (including 3 hurricanes and 2 majors).

Hurricane Josephine (Cat 1) - from soon to be 94L
Tropical Storm Kyle - August 13 in subtropical Atlantic
Major Hurricane Laura (Cat 5) - August 15 in MDR, peak north of Antilles and landfall on US east coast
Major Hurricane Marco (Cat 3) - August 26 in MDR and out to sea
Tropical Storm Nana - August 30 in Gulf

4 is my best guess, and the last one, Marco perhaps, could be the first major of 2020 and last into September.

Of course, given the year, it could be crazier but I'll go with 4 (excluding any borderline TDs that steal names, lol). FOUR quality systems...1 TS, 2 H, 1 MH. That's the Rat's take.

I’m going to go 6/3/2 for August. After what happened in July, I’m bullish for this month, although I do think a majority of that action is going to be in the back half of the month.

I voted five storms based off a gut feeling.

It better be in the back half. I need a break!

Honestly given the incredible July activity, if we get a lull at all it'll probably be in August; might easily be 5+ but voting 4 for now expecting a rapid increase in activity in the last part of the month

Not a meteorologist, in fact more of an idiot than anything. You should probably check with the NHC or a local NWS office for official information.

Those who have not voted yet have until 8 AM on Wednesday so there is time to cast the vote. So far is close among three of the options.

I am riding with 4 named storms. I am being a little bit conservative here considering how hyperactive 2020 has been to this juncture. I figured that Mother Nature will have to hit a lull at some point, and I think the first half of August will be slow with activity..
However, by mid-August and beyond, I do think the lid will come off out there. We probably will get our first major of the season toward the the end of August, which may be a threat to the CONUS.

I went with four. Guessing a lull until mid-August followed by a burst of activity. 4/2/1?

I’m voting 6 or more because all indications show there’s nothing stopping this season. A “lull” this year just means one active storm at the time.

I also buy into the hypothesis that we will see our first major during the last week of the month, and I think it will landfall somewhere in CONUS after raking the islands.

Here’s to an August to remember! :flag:

I went with 4, still could happen if 95L becomes Josephine and we get three named storms in the last third of the month. Might be a bit high, but still seems possible.
