landfall actually occurs when the "EYE" is situated half on half off.. so the red line at this point in time needs to be on land for it to have made landfall. the distance from shore to the red line is roughly 15-18 miles so you divide that by the 2 MPH speed and you get 7.5 - 9 hrs before landfall is declared ..
