I refuse to go to bed until they upgrade it to a category three.

Haha, there’s a chance you could be up for another 8 months then

I did it for Michael, I'll do it for Laura and Sally too. I am going to explode if they put Laura at 155. Either put it at 160 or keep it at 150.

MORE COFFEE! I'm staying up all night I believe. More because of the rotating embedded cells that are coming onshore in the Panhandle now. Wanna be able to move quick if needed.

I hear ya...I don't drink coffee...I consume far too many Diet Pepsis on a daily basis. I live on Deerpoint Lake in Panama City. They opened the Gates on the Dam over the weekend and lowered the lake in anticipation for the rain. I was a little irritated at how much they lowered it because I left my two boats in the water tied to my dock. I just went outside and the lake is freakin' on the rise in a big, big way. My dock is almost under water. I'll deal with it at daybreak.

Back to Sally...

Watching this from across the Atlantic, I went to bed with Sally being a weakening or at the very least not strengthening cat 1 hurricane and people were wondering whether it would make landfall as a cat 1 or a tropical storm. No I wake up and it's a significant cat 2 and people are talking about it becoming a major just before landfall. What happened  ?!

I’m here in Choctaw Beach. Haven’t hit the coffee yet. Can’t decide if I should get some sleep or stay up. Rain continues to fall endlessly and heavily. Not worried about flooding where I am, but the wind is nonstop and the gusts are becoming more frequent and more intense.

That translates to about 95 kt at the surface. If higher up, then a case for 100 kt could be made.

Any insight as to why/how NHC expects Sally to stay offshore until 1200z?

landfall actually occurs when the "EYE" is situated half on half off.. so the red line at this point in time needs to be on land for it to have made landfall. the distance from shore to the red line is roughly 15-18 miles so you divide that by the 2 MPH speed and you get 7.5 - 9 hrs before landfall is declared ..

16.24 inches of rain here in 26 hours and rapidly climbing. Insane band has been bombarding us for hours.

2020SEP16 072016 5.8 946.0 109.8 5.6 5.9 5.9

Latest Dvorak numbers are eye-popping but it's keying in an 11 mile eye, so could be what's to come if this inner eyewall can organize.
