"Sittin' round the Pot Belly Stove!"

#1 Postby azsnowman » Fri Oct 01, 2004 7:21 am

With the 1st day of October upon us  (were did the SUMMER go?) it's time to fire up the Pot Belly Stove 8-) The PBS is a place to come in out of the cold, sit a spell, tell us about your day, talk about the weather and whatever else you wanna talk about (WELL...."ALMOST" anything LOL!)

So "Come on in, sit a spell, take a load off, share the warmth of TRUE weather buddy fellowship!"

2 more days and my presence on the board will be VERY limited, I start school on SUNDAY, NO...not SUNDAY SCHOOL "LOL" the REAL school! I got my books yesterday via UPS and MAN...talk about a HUGE OL' BOOK! "Introduction to Criminal Justice!" VERY interesting reading however, I read 2 chapters last night just to get ahead of the game!

WELL........that's it fer now, enjoy the fire! I'll be back in a few hours to check on the fire!

Hey Dennis, I'm taking a class like that. I'm at about chapter 5 in mine though. Who's the author/editor of your book, I'm gonna have to check mine when I get home, if they're the same, we can help each other out.

Intro to CJ; fun class. Just hope Billy Budd isnt on the required reading......its a sleeper.

We should be firing up the stove here in a few weeks. Mornings here have been a tad chilly.

It's gettin chilly here too. This summer flew by. We're supposed to get down to the 30's later this week. It's funny, Dennis how similiar our climates are, when are latitudes are so much different. We ran the furnace for the first time this week.

Getting chilly here now too. Predicting a low of 38 tonight. I'm ready for cooler weather. The A/C had been running all this time. We try to put off starting up the furnace until we absolutely have to Ed, must be pretty cold by you if you needed it! The back of our house faces south and has many windows. We just raise all the blinds during the day and warm the house that way for a week or two before we really need to turn it on.

Good afternoon!

Sitting just below 60 right now...we're gonna struggle to hit 70 today. Then the bottom falls out tonight and it'll be cold enough to kick the heater on! I'm not ready for that yet!

Last night, I was at my HS alma mater's football game. We were playing Scott (a school out of Independence, KY which is about 5 or 6 miles away). Well about halfway through the second quarter, who decides to show up? Yep...my former girlfriend/friend who has pretty much turned enemy. It's making my blood boil just typing about it! :x Anyway, another 20 minutes passes. Well about maybe midway through the 3rd quarter, one of my senior friends from last year comes in. I didn't recognize her but she knew immediately who I was! That was a happy type of shock! :) Oh and BTW we kicked Scott's BUTTS, 58-14!

Well that's enough out of me. I'll leave some KK's here for those who want them, along with some hot cocoa.

Have a great Saturday,

Jeremy

I'll take one of those donuts, been so busy lately that I haven't had a chance to have one. :) Thank you for leaving some for us.

Well as you all know I am finally back after around two weeks without a working computer. It feels great to finally be back and have not lost anything really in the process. I can't even begin to describe the feeling. :)

It was a nice and mild early October day here, with temps in the mid to upper 70s. The local forecasters are calling for things to get even warmer before a trough of low pressure finally cools us down at the end of next week.

Keep that PBS up north for a few more weeks Dennis...was 93 and sunny here today...premature for the fires to crank up locally.

For now...try to keep the donuts out of the sun too. That chocolate becomes a mess down here!

Well that's Phoenix, down here we are seeing lows getting down into the 40's already which we aren't supposed to see until mid month.

David, I think Crouton took my KK while I was tying
my shoe! I should have never let my guard down...

I went to the county fair with friends, last night. First
time I'd re-visited the fair in ten years or more. We
went through the exhibition booths, walked through
the midway looking at the rides...LOL, looking,
only - we decided, at our age, we'd probably end up
riding out in an ambulance if we rode any of the rides!
Of course, we all ate too much "fair food", but, hey -
I'll be good, today - maybe... ;)

It's 52° here, so, the stove feels quite nice!

Everyone have a great day!

It was one chilly weekend for drill... I was a smart one and forgot to bring my heavy jacket (gortex) and kinda froze. By the way, is there hot coals on the stove yet?

I had a nice visit with the NWS in Green Bay on Friday afternoon... I am doing a project on the flooding rains during May/ June of 2004.... some areas received in access of 14" of rain (one month!) I'll talk with my professor on wednesday about the meeting. For some odd reason, the WCM at the NWS office knew who I was (I hadn't seen him in a long time!!!) Had to decipher information last night after our saturday drill was over with.

Speaking of Drill, out unit had a commander change... next drill (23-24 Oct...yes, that is 2 drills in 1 month, but no nov drill) we are having the Change of Command Ceremony for our BASE commander... Base commander is retiring... That means BLUES! I'm not looking forward to the blues portion, but the ceremony should be neat. (FYI... I'm allergic to wool... so itch like crazy! I should be able to slide spandex pants on under our blue pants.) I'm not sure off had who is taking his place. Regardless, it will be interesting. I also tested for my 5 level on Saturday... I did a test 'retracing' and completed the ones that I knew and then went back to 'guess' on the rest that I didn't know... (I only missed about 20-25 questions out of 123, but then rethought the questions and hopefully got them right). I hopefully will find out my grade on the next drill.
