Forgive me for not naming all the pro's here that seem to have disappeared recently or very rarely show up, but I for one wish they would come back to post in this forum. I know it must be hard with the lack of respect that can be shown by a few at times but remember that most of us here DO respect your opinions and experience and wish that you would return. Please understand I feel it does go both ways as well - respect must come from all sides. AND on a rare occasion the amateurs just MIGHT be able to point out something that the Pro's may have missed.

IF they choose to return, would everyone please try to agree to disagree with respect for one another? And if there is a disagreement, could everyone try to be open to hearing their reasoning by asking WHY they believe as they do? And if disagreement still is there then RESPECTFULLY explain your own reasoning?

I feel we are all here to learn as much as we can and having them around is a learning tool we could never hope to get without going to school ourselves for meteorology. Being a student now, yes, you may have learned alot, but remember - not until you are actually out there working in the real world of the tropics will you truly be able to have the experience they have or maybe even the tools they have at their disposal.

One thing I have noticed is ego's seem to be fragile at times which can be understandable with all the tension a storm seems to bring, but ego's can keep us all from benefitting from the learning experience when they get in the way.

Let's learn and have fun while we are here and strive to respect each others ideas and experience. Guys - please come back.

Storm2K has given us this wonderful place to learn and have fun and I think if we all agree to work with each other rather than against each other, that would be one of the very best gifts we could give back to them (other than a donation of course  ) Keeping it an enjoyable and educational site for all. Thank you Storm2K for putting up with us all! :D

They have other stuff to do maybe?

They all still post on a regular basis, or so it seems.

well - that may be the case, but I seem to have noticed that a number of them have definately not been making appearances as often as they did.
I hope you are right.
Thanks for responding. :D

They're called professionals for a reason. That means they have other responsibilities than posting on Storm2K. Beggars can't be choosers. They have every right to post 40 times / day, or not at all.

Yeah. Hanging sheet-rock with my father.

Helped him do in one day what would have taken him a week to do by himself.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Flattered to be included among the group listed in the subject header but I am far from a pro.

Navy wouldn't have me as an Aerographer's Mate because I do not have normal color perception. After signing a contract for another rating (job field) I was told by a Chief at a NAVMETOC (Navy weather forecasting office) that if I pulled a hissy fit that they would let me in anyway, but I didn't care that much about it to play the kind of hardball he was advocating.

Am glad to hear though that people manage to glean value from my posts regardless.

I said plenty about this on page 85 of the Irene thread. If I were subjected to the disrespect that is shown to the pros who are "trying" to teach the rest of us, I would make myself scarce as well. Sure, they all have plenty to do but in the past when their words were taken as an important contribution, they were around no matter how busy the season got.

Lynn - that is the feeling I have gotten lately. I have recently seen the changes as well and it has worried me they might be staying away for a reason other than being busy.

The pros are storm2k. With out them we are just a bunch of amateurs talking weather. When things get hot, the crew will be here to help us through!

Exactly sponger! IF it weren't for them, most of us wouldn't be here I don't think, at least during storm time. Last year it was such a blessing to have such wonderful knowledge ahead of the storms headed my way. Really helped us to be prepared before everyone else we knew and a sense of peace in knowing we were prepared - compared to our neighbors running around ina panic trying to get prepared at the last minute! The second storm that came thru - guess who everyone called to see what was going to happen??? Us! Because they knew we had a great reliable source with info early for the first storm!
I am definately not saying everyone else doesn't help to contribute to this great place - but when a storm is approaching - I want those Pro's to be here to help us thru again!

Without the pros, Storm2k would be nothing expect a bunch of amateurs/weather weenies who just like to talk and bash each other. In fact, there wouldn't be a Storm2k. They are the screws and nails of this board (no pun intended).

Thanks to all the pro mets here on this forum.

A list of them:

Amen.

S2K was amazing when I joined a year ago just for the reasons stated above in the thread.
We amateurs need to treat the Pros with the respect they have earned.
Some of the trash directed at Derek has been needless.
He is a Pro and if you disagree there is a way to express in the form of a question rather than a surly "blow off" of his opinion.
Without the Pros, this board is a waste of time.

Come on fellow amateurs, THINK before you post!!!!

I'm sure most of them will return full force when there is actually more activity in the Atlantic and when the U.S. has real threats. Irene is not worth it.

great post fci!

boca_chris - I hope you are right!
Even if it is so we still need to let them all know how much we appreciate them and give them the respect they deserve.

I agree with the poster who said that the disrespect that some posters show on the board to the pros are reason enough for pros to not offer their opinions....although I continue to see them to post, it is an issue that needs to be discussed. Now I also agree with being able to disagree with them...but in a civilized way. If you don't agree with them, don't throw a temper tantrum...and if they show you evidence that your opinion is wrong, and you do not have any evidence to back up your opinion...or theirs is stronger...do not throw a temper tantrum.

However, likewise to the pros, if someone is using evidence that is outdated or none at all, and/or if they continue with their opinion after you try to teach them, do not throw a temper tantrum. Just ignore them.

It is really not that difficult, people.

You're welcome. And yeah, the real pros need to get on that list of people who can post in the Tropical Analyses forum.
