If the air is cold enough, it will freeze.

The euro has 30 for DFW so its definitely still possible

My hometown is going to have a white Halloween with 4-6 inches. Crazy early.

Edit: Delkus has gone with a freeze now.

I saw a few of the news stations have 30-32 for early morning lows on Friday. As long as the clouds clear out late Halloween a freeze is definitely possible for the DFW area, especially the outline areas and surrounding counties.

If it happens it will be the earliest official freeze since 1993, and Halloween is already looking to be the coldest since 2002.

DFW hasn't recorded a single digit low temperature since February 4th 1996 (8F) and our last below average temp winter was 2013-2014.

I'm reading this article about Denver's weather this week and they are threatening all time records but this one really stuck out at me

If Denver finishes with four or more days with a high temperature of 29 degrees or below, it’d be the first time in Denver’s recorded history that would happen in the month of October. It’d also be the first time that would happen — at any point of the year — in several years. That could happen this week.

maybe this winter is gonna be different??? its so early though last year had a lot of promise too afterall

This front will bring well below 0 temps to Angel Fire, NM, teens to the Panhandle and a freeze to most north of I20. Halloween morning wind chills around here could be in the teens with afternoon temps in the 40s only. If only the associated low could track further south so we could get wrap around flurries but it looks like the low will be well to our north keeping us cold and dry.

Freeze now in the forecast for the urban core in what is one of the chilliest Halloween weeks in recent memory.

Parts of the plains and rockies are breaking all time national US October lows.

Models continue to look good for soaking rains the next couple of days across DFW. This event should get us above normal for October and back to near normal for Fall. Also, this will put DFW a couple of inches above for the year.

As of 1:15, it’s still in the 30s with drizzle and light rain.

I have been in La Grange and Columbus this morning and it was raining heavy on and off this morning. When I got back to Weimar, my rain gauge showed 6.86 inches of rain. I had to check my eyesight twice to make sure I was not seeing the wrong amount.

That would be amazing for the Dallas urban core, especially since we are still in October. :cold:

I'm just hoping this doesn't end up being the season of the early hard freeze, followed by zonal dry flow with highs in the 70s for two months, then another March freeze.

The NAM never gets the 50+ dew points west of a BCS to Texarkana line, other models bring it into Central and North Texas tomorrow morning.

One of our local weathercaster said that this will be the coldest Halloween in 20 years. My kid is going to need to get a heavier costume! :cold:

Sorry to say it's pretty much near zero. While you could see your first freeze by the end of this week, the precipitation will be over well before then.

Agreed trough is too far north this time. looks like the majority of the snow will fall north of a Lubbock to Tulsa line maybe some flurries south of there.

A small update on our recovery in Richardson ...

We've been moved into a Residence Inn by insurance, it may be a few months before the house is finished. We need to rebuild the wall in the garage, rebuild the entire roof, and replace all the wiring. The Honda is a total loss and a lot of rain has fallen in it since the storm but if anybody is interested in buying it for parts, the engine still starts up just fine and the radio still works.

Still consider myself incredibly fortunate. This is a photo of my culdesac. I'm the house on the left.
