No, it's really not. If you can prove me wrong go ahead, but she is doing absolutely nothing. Radar can trick you into seeing things that aren't there but, at least when I did it, if you plot where she was three hours ago and where she is now she is moving due nowhere at 0 mph. :P

Wasn't using the radar, but the personal weather stations on the map. They aren't all accurate, but given the number of them you can get a pretty good idea.

She is moving due-on-my-nerves. We need a can of Fay B Gone to turn her into a fish and make her disappear.

This is nuts. I thought Frances in 2004 was long... this one definitely hates water and is afraid to jump in. Fay's a cat.

/grumbling and putting a fresh pot of coffee on for another long day.

It does seem to have wobbled a touch to the west but really the whole thing has stayed near wher eit is.

I think the main story could well be the huge rainfalls that we could see, Fay is spinning down and even if it makes the gulf its going to be a mere shadow its former self BUT the globals are forecasting another 36-48hrs inland which obviously raises the odds of some strong flooding.

Actually if she reaches the Gulf I think she has one last chance to become a hurricane.

Its going to be a mess of a TD by then I reckon if it takes as long as the globals predict and there will be plenty of mid level dir air flowing into the system from the gulf states as well which won't help thje system. I suppose it depends mainly how deep it gets int othe gulf and what state its in when it gets there. Of course this could all be not needed if it doesn't make the gulf!

LOL  I'm considering offering Fay for free to a good home on Craigs list.

Has any other system sat in one spot for this duration (or longer) before?

Yeah don't worry deltadog its messed us all about, a right pain of a tropical storm!!!

Still looks stalled on the radar, still producing some good convection mind you but would expect its still weakening.

Global models suggests this may have another 36-48hrs over Florida

Even the local TV mets can't agree where she is. Within the past 10 minutes, WFTV centers Fay over Port St John, but Channel13 News says the center is 15 miles due south of Cape Canaveral and moving due north at 5 mph. That is approximately Satellite Beach and about 30 miles from Pt St John.

It's still dark here so I haven't wandered far, but from my driveway, I'm only seeing a lot of leaves on the road. I was surprised to find a newspaper delivered this morning! (Kudos to my delivery person!)

There is a report from Port Canaveral authorities that a very large bar/restaurant has suffered heavy wind damage. The place (Ryan's Portside for the locals) has actually been closed for a few months and appeared to need repairs anyway.

Brevard (Space Coast) info: 9,700 were without power last night; currently down to 5,500. Over 50 homes damaged, 9 unhabitable. Three known injured people, none serious. More than six inches of rain over some parts of the county last night; Melbourne broke a rain record. We are currently under a flash flood warning.

All Brevard schools are closed again today, as well as the Space Center and many other employers. One note of concern: Orange County (Orlando) decided late yesterday to reopen their schools this morning and they are currently experiencing near trop-storm winds -- the highest they've had in the past two days.

Will report more later and get some pics after the sun comes up ...

She's looking stronger on radar than an hour ago.

Looks like the GFS was correct last night with a slow down of Fay. Now, my take is that since she's weakened, she'll respond more to the building high pressure off the east coast and turn more west. With the GFS, UKMET, and ECMWF holding firm on this scenario, I'm still forecasting Fay into the NE GOM. Of course, this storm has a habit of doing its own thing so I'l probably be wrong. In any case, I agree with KWT that she'll be a TD or weak TS when she moves west back across FL.

Ahm there is alot more wind and rain today, but Orange Co. schools are open today??? I don't get it. I mean the east side of my county is only 20 miles from the center of Fickle Fay. I am thinking right now if I am going to keep them home anyways. Advice anyone?

Did they have shelters opened there? I think that's part of the reason they close schools - so they can use them for shelters. How old are your kiddies? Our schools just started on Monday - so I'd probably let mine stay home (although I have to head off to work myself). Trust your gut instinct. They are YOUR kids.
