990.6mb extrap from NOAA is probably 993-992mb in reality, since they usually run a little low.

It is at maximum 991.8 as that is the current buoy observation.

Buoy is at 19 degrees 49 minutes or close to 19.816 degrees they flew south of it..

Could be some slight tilt, they are flying at 700mb.

Helene is starting to get “the fist” look to it in the final daytime frames.

Winds at the buoy flipped around to 170 degrees from 330 20 minutes ago so its not like we don't know where the center is.

Oh for sure. Just a very minor offset between presumed center @ 700mb and the buoy. Almost negligible

Which direction will the recon fixes for this mission line up WNW or NW?

The complete absence of lightning in and around Helene’s core might be a sign of either how organized the system is becoming or how large its warm core is rn.

Not something anyone wants to see heading your way with the entire GOM ahead of it for additional fuel to light it off.

That fix is just west of the buoy which recorded a slightly lower pressure

Completely insane how large this storm is. It’s so large that both the Florida Keys and Honduras are getting hit by outer rainbands at the same time.

Kinda reminds me of Hurricane Frances in appearance at the moment. Although clearly not as strong nor as well defined of an eye.

This is starting to get scary, I'm wondering if the NW turn has been confirmed?
