That's how it was for Tropical Storm Isidore. We didn't get a drop of rain, but 50 miles to the east of US was soaked.

Looking at the radar today we didn't get a drop of rain today or yesterday. We had been getting rain everyday before that. Cindy brought us very dry weather here on the west side. Go out 120 miles to the east side of Cindy... different story.

Thought so, such an unusual situation lol :).

Not that unusual for lopsided storms. Over here in Hancock County we didn't get squat from Arlene--it was like there was a big rubber seal along Hwy 49 from Gulfport to Hattiesburg that simply would not allow any rain west of it. But two counties over to the east they got drenched.

New Orleans isn't exactly on the coast, so allowing for some land friction a 75mph storm would only produce 60 mph in the city....which is close to what I am seeing. I just watched a tree across my backyard fall on my neighbors house.

I ain't scared for my life or anything like that...but this sure the hell wasn't what I was expecting when the met said 30-40 mph winds in the city!

:(

If it was a hurricane, which is somewhat unlikely, hurricane-force winds were in a very small area. As it was, the sustained winds above 60 mph were very limited. The majority of the sites are only reporting 50-55 mph sustained winds.

We fared very well here. Got some rain and some very gusty winds. Sometimes you would here some loud swooshes in squalls. But, we were on the very western side of the circulation. The lights flickered about 3 times while I was in the shower around 10:30 p.m. But, after that, it got better. Did not last long. My dad rode out the storm on his offshore rig near Venice which is near the mouth of the MS river. Cindy was right on top of him.

I'm in the Lakeview section of N.O., and our power's been out since about 10 last night. Had one very healthy tree branch snap, and a nice sized magnolia branch in our driveway. Only problem is that we don't have a magnolia tree. Seems to have found its way across two lanes of Canal Blvd. I slept through the worst (earplugs-wife snores), but it must have been interesting. Almost as interesting as crossing Canal St. at a major intersection with the light out and people blowing thru doin 35. Now my mother-in-law (whom I dearly love, but....) is freaking about Dennis already.
