I am saddened by this terrible event....My Prayers go out to the Friends and Family members of the victims. This could happen anywhere, don't live you life in fear for the actions of one coward.Tampa Bay Hurricane wrote:This is a horrible tragedy. My prayers are with all those who suffered.
As a result,
I feel less safe on my own college campus than I did before.

To be contacted, through a YouTube account no less, by a fellow storm2k user (GalvestonDuck) is a testament to the extraordinary quality of this community. As for myself, I was outside Norris Hall when the shootings began, fortunate not to be inside it. A quick sprint across campus to get out of harm's way and I came through unharmed. However, I wish I could say the same for 32 others, many of whom we knew well. I'm sure the families of these victims would appreciate your thoughts and prayers as they will need all the support they can receive.
I would hope that, in the midst of wall-to-wall media coverage of the tragedy that occured, everyone would take a look at the community that I'm proud to be a part of. One of the greatest fears that all of us have, is that our school will forever be known as "that college where the worst shooting in US history occured." I may be biased, but I can think of no other university community that carries itself with such pride and spirit. We have never been more proud to call ourselves Hokies and hope that the world will come to see us as a college of unity, not one of catastrophe.
Lastly, as classes have been cancelled for the rest of the week, I'll be heading home to Winchester to spend time with family and friends. I don't consider myself a theologian, nor an articulate salesman of life lessons, but if there is anything I have learned over the past two days, it's that every moment in life is important and should be cherished by all, for one can never know when his/her number will come up. I can only hope that the 32 classmates of mine who were lost have moved on to a place of peace. As for all us Hokies, I pray that we can find our own.
With many thanks,
