THE MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE JUST REPORTED BY THE HURRICANE HUNTER
IS 898 MB...26.52 INCHES. THIS MEANS RITA IS THE THIRD MOST
INTENSE HURRICANE IN TERMS OF PRESSURE IN THE ATLANTIC BASIN.

Thanks for the welcome, Gotoman38! Like everyone else, I'm just here/waiting to see what the latest reports bring. . .

I must add here that after Katrina, I would hope that those in the path of this have learned a good lesson and will evacuate. I wouldn't try myself to ride-out anything worse than a cat 2 for sure!

The rapid intensification of this monster alone was phenomenal. . .If I am not wrong it went from a tropical storm to a cat 5 in approx. 33 hrs!

no usually eye decreasing in size means strengthening... Concentric eyewalls means ERC (when they put 2 diameters in the eyewall size line on vortex) which isn't the case here.
