Well my 2 to 4 inches looks like it’s going to top out it maybe half an inch, so I’m hopeful I can exceed that in snowfall tomorrow morning.

I’m calling bust then. You heard it here first folks...empirical evidence that I’m calling a winter cancel and we won’t see a flake. Thanks Brent.

I've only done LAX to DFW when coming back from Hawaii, it's a horrible flight getting into DFW at like 5:00 am (after flying from Kaui at least)

Re: Texas Winter 2019-2020
Looks like theres a 6 hour window of banded precipitation moving through from about 5am to 11am north Texas is bullseyed I'm in Durant and the higher totals have shifted a bit further south although still in the comfort zone of 20 to 40 miles, I'm getting excited

There is currently precip building in the south plains of the panhandle. 850s is falling like a rock wrapping into the ULL. Most short range guidance dive that south/southeastward pulled by the ULL.
There are areas now in the eastern Panhandle and Oklahoma that are under WAA that may not even see a flake! The southward trend has been real. Interestingly they must be feeling what N Texans feel when the snow bands happen further to the south!

I think you're sitting in a good spot. We can only watch radar trends and see where the best dynamics sets up along with the strongest precip bands.

Thanks ntxw, so help me understand I know these events are always fickle, is this precip shield going to expand as it approaches? And if so why?

Trough is going from positive to neutral -> and kicking out negative tilt. Thus the strong dynamics today for the severe weather. At the same time a neg-tilt trough/ULL generates a "trowal" which is able to pull back moisture better into the cold sector. It's still a fine line though and requires a lot of dynamics and timing especially for the I-20 corridor.

Re: Texas Winter 2019-2020
0z ICON (global) is following suit of the HRRR. A moderate band of snow/precip between the Red River and I-20 early tomorrow morning changing from rain to snow. Perhaps some ULL magic??

Starting to rain pretty hard again in Farmers Branch with the wind picking up in intensity. Thinking of setting the alarm for 5 to check the snow situation. That should be early enough to catch any wonderful snow that might fall.
