Re: Florida Weather Thread-Summer weather!
After yesterday's weather could this be an early rainy season for central FL? It could very well be if this early Bermuda ridge in the western Atlantic holds on through out the month of April.
Very summer like skies yesterday, while I was at the beach I watched the thunderstorm clouds build up inland from Indialantic Beach with the help of the cool seabreeze colliding with the much warmer inland air.

Re: Florida Weather Thread-Summer weather!
It went from sun to lightning in just 30 minutes here, and it looks like the storms are starting to build up on the coastline.

Re: Florida Weather Thread-Summer weather!
Morning update from NWS sounds like some of the storms today may be interesting...
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TAMPA BAY RUSKIN FL
923 AM EDT WED APR 2 2008
.DISCUSSION...SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE CONTINUES FROM THE WESTERN ATLANTIC
SOUTHWEST ACROSS THE NORTHERN PENINSULA EARLY THIS MORNING. SIMILAR
TO YESTERDAY 12Z RAOB DATA SHOWS A VERY UNSTABLE AIR MASS (LI ~-9C)
AND RATHER COLD TEMPERATURES (-13.3C AT 500MB) ALOFT. WEAKER WINDS VIA
RAOB DATA SHOULD ALLOW FOR A FASTER ONSET TO THE EAST/WEST COAST SEA
BREEZES WITH DAYTIME HEATING AND SEA/OUTFLOW BOUNDARY COLLISIONS PROVIDING
FOCUS FOR SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS DURING THE AFTERNOON AND
EARLY EVENING HOURS. SIMILAR TO YESTERDAY SOME OF THE THUNDERSTORMS
COULD BECOME STRONG WITH DAMAGING DOWNBURST WINDS AND HAIL A POSSIBILITY
GIVEN THE COLD TEMPERATURES ALOFT AND RATHER STEEP LAPSE RATES. IN
ADDITION A WEAK STEERING FLOW WILL SUPPORT SLOW MOVING STORMS...SO SOME
LOCALLY HEAVY RAINS WILL BE POSSIBLE. WILL ADD WORDING FOR GUSTY WINDS...
SMALL HAIL...AND LOCALLY HEAVY RAINS INTO THE GRIDS/ZONES IN A MID MORNING
UPDATE...OTHERWISE ONGOING 40-50% POPS AS WELL AS TEMPERATURES LOOK
ON TRACK WITH NO OTHER CHANGES ANTICIPATED AT THIS TIME.

Re: Florida Weather Thread-Summer weather!
Looks like we could get a repeat in Interior Central Florida of yesterdays Thunderstorms. Dizzyfish posted how this mornings soundings are unstable . In fact the 500 MB temps at Tampa are cooler today then yesterday so I wouldn't be surprised to see more hail reports. I need to look at the Calendar again is this April or June??

Re: Florida Weather Thread-Summer weather!
It looks like the chance for rain and Thunderstorms will continue at least through the week-end. Also, the SPC has Northern and a good part of Central Florida in the risk area for Severe Weather on day 4.

Re: Florida Weather Thread-Summer weather!
SPC has placed a swath in the middle of Florida under the slight risk for Severe Weather Today.
Excerpt for the SPC discussion..
Excerpt for the SPC discussion..
...FL/GA...
SEA BREEZE DEVELOPMENT EXPECTED TO INITIATE EARLY TODAY ACROSS S FL
WITH QUICKLY WARMING TEMPERATURES AND FAVORABLE DEW POINT READINGS
IN THE UPPER 60S AND LOWER 70S. SATELLITE IMAGERY SHOWS DEVELOPING
CU FIELD...AND FURTHER VERTICAL DEVELOPMENT CAN BE EXPECTED AS
WARMING TEMPERATURES INCREASE SURFACE BASED INSTABILITY.
GIVEN SOUTHEASTERLY TO EASTERLY SURFACE WINDS OF 10 TO 15
KT...EXPECT INITIAL TSTM DEVELOPMENT ALONG THE SE COAST TO QUICKLY
MOVE INLAND. MAIN FOCUS FOR CONVECTION WILL BE CLOSER TO THE SW
COAST OF FLORIDA AS WEST/EAST COAST SEA BREEZES CONVERGE.
COLD TEMPERATURES ALOFT NEAR -12.5 TO -13.5 C AT 500 MB SHOWN ON 12Z
FLORIDA SOUNDINGS WILL PROMOTE STRONG UPDRAFTS GIVEN VERY UNSTABLE
ATMOSPHERE AND WEAK UPPER DIVERGENCE. ALTHOUGH MARGINAL HAIL WILL BE
LIKELY...LIMITED SHEAR WILL LIMIT GROWTH POTENTIAL. EXPECT MAIN
THREATS OF STRONG WINDS AND FREQUENT LIGHTNING. HIGH PWAT VALUES IN
COMBINATION WITH WEAK STEERING FLOW WILL BRING THE THREAT OF NEARLY
STATIONARY HEAVY DOWNPOURS AND LOCALIZED FLOODING.
A SECOND AREA OF CONVECTION WILL INITIATE BY AFTERNOON MAINLY ACROSS
SRN GA AND NRN FL AS A COLD FRONTAL BOUNDARY ANALYZED IN CENTRAL GA
MOVES SWD TODAY...STALLING NEAR THE FL/GA BORDER. AFOREMENTIONED
COLD TEMPERATURES ALOFT...FAVORABLE INSTABILITY...AND SEA BREEZE
DEVELOPMENT WILL ALLOW FOR ISOLATED SEVERE DEVELOPMENT AS THESE
BOUNDARIES INTERSECT. 12Z SOUNDING PROFILES AT TLH/JAX ARE DRIER
ALOFT IN COMPARISON TO S FL...SO STRONG WINDS WILL BE MORE OF A
THREAT WITH ANY STORMS THAT DO DEVELOP.

Re: Florida Weather Thread-Summer weather!
The last few days are a good example of mainland convection cells not making it offshore to Sanibel. There was heavy rain over I-75 15 miles or so away with a sharp divide between the crisp clear skies over the Gulf and Sanibel. We had hot sun and dry. Today too.
There's an early rainy season pattern here now.

Yep, its been pretty quiet so far along the I-4 corridor. I really thought it would have been a lot more active here today.
