Re: Strong Wave emerging Africa / Low still inland

Ok lets stay on topic.

The low is still inland close or beneath the convection that is in Senegal.

Elsewhere in the tropics
Three of our four reliable computer models for are predicting a new tropical depression will develop off the coast of Africa 3-5 days from now.

I'm not sure, but today might mark the first time on record that we've have three named storms on the same day in July in the Atlantic. The year 2005 came close, when Dennis and Emily existed on July 11, and Cindy's extratropical remnants were over New England.

Impressive the organization of this system. See the loop before comenting. You will see that the top is the low pressure system, great rotation.

I can never recall a similar paragraph in the TWO or TWD over numerous years of watching the tropics...

I have never seen the NHC issue an outlook for a wave over Africa. I also don't know if I have ever seen the term "very quickly."

NHC has never used aggressive wording like that for a wave still OVER Africa. Definitely have to keep an eye on this one.

Saw this on another forum. Very interesting to have a "Area of Concern" over land, lol.

wow... the tropic is very busy for July... if this forms, we would have 5 named storms, which is about half of the season's average and we are not even into Aug and Sept...

Is there a chance this gets called TD5 as soon as it hits the water?
