Would a Fla west coast landfall be impossible..?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

It is a 45 mph tropical storm!

But the NHC says there is a chance of strengthening.

Hey Fox13 - no tv here at work. Are the local stations mentioning in the 11am that we are now under a TS watch?

The weather at 11 on Fox Radio AM made no mention of it.

yes, a remote chance of it becoming a hurricane. In all likelihood the storm will stay east of you so all SW Florida will receive will be some gusty winds and squalls. In the big scheme of things not that big a deal.

In the big scheme, yes! Just some minor inconveniences like school being closed and Target closing tonight at 6.

If it came at us across the track it was on it would cross much more 88* water than it presently will (giving it a chance at intensification).

So like another posted said above - that will probably mean closed schools, government, voting for primarys, ect...

So maybe not a big deal wind and rain wise, but once that watch is issued, you have to admit a little of the poop hits the fan as far as the daily grind around here....

No argument here. it is what it is, a tropical storm moving our way from the south and we will have occasional squalls tomorrow. If the center stays east of the Bay Area then the weather will not be that bad, as most of the weather, as usual, is on the east side.

With the storm moving to the east of us what can we expect for tides?

i don't think teh tides will be any higher due to the storm, in fact, they shoudl be lower with the winds coming from the land.

BUT, we can probably expect increased tides when the front comes through on Thursday. We're going to see wind and storms along the frontal line and that may help drive up our water a little.

probably lower than normal. no flooding issues. latest VDM had a pressure of a 1008mb. A 1008mb reading is about as high as you can go while still calling it a tropical storm.
