Holy Moly! It's already 22° here and 26° down at the airport! Tonight might rival the 18° from the other night.

So anyone think it has been cold?

CLIMATE...
THE FIRST 4 DAYS OF FEBRUARY HAVE BEEN BRUTALLY COLD. THE AVERAGE
TEMPERATURE HAS BEEN ABOUT 20 DEGREES COLDER THAN NORMAL. THE LAST
TIME HOUSTON RECEIVED 5 CONSECUTIVE DAYS WITH MIN TEMPS EQUAL TO
OR BELOW 28 DEGREES WAS FEB 1989.
THIS IS THE 4TH COLDEST START TO
FEB FOR THE CITY OF HOUSTON.
ONLY FEB 1-4 IN 1985...1951 AND 1996
WERE COLDER
.

Finally, I have gone above freezing at my location. Nearly 88 hours of below freezing temps have ended.

Same here except we went above about 30 minutes ago. That is the second longest run below freezing I've had in my 40 years in Houston. Last one this long was 1989 iirc.

They took the chance of freezing drizzle out of the forecast. Now it's rain with a low of 31°.

Last night, NWS had a low of 31° forecast for me. Later in the evening, when it was already 33° here, they raised the low to 35°. It got to 28 here°. Why do they do that? You would think they'd have access to as many, if not more local obs than we do. It's not like this is one Weatherbug (KFDM Instaweather) station. There are many that show similar temps, not to mention my home one, which is similar to the stations nearby. I just don't understand how they are consistently so far off from actual temps.

I don't know whether to chuckle or cry. It is so frustrating sometimes to see the waffling and the differences from what we see with the meager tools we have compared to them. I am still an advocate of looking out the window once in a while, especially with our model hugging local OCMs.
Back to the local weather. Looks to be a roller coaster ride till Wednesday then we know the routine. :cold: :cold: :froze: :froze:

Just pushed out 07Z Smartmodel run, starting to track the winter wx for the 9th. Right now looks like the Arkansas region is getting a little taste of it. Seeing accumulation potential of 3-6 inches.

My sister was traveling to College Station last night and called me after she drove through hail on Hwy. 105. She was just west of Cleveland when she went through it.
