Not good folks, I'm not going to post the whole story, I've got the thread in USA weather.........however, I'm finding out that the possibility of ANOTHER evac is on the horizon, we have a briefing at 0700 tomorrow morning, I will know more then. The fire is now at 345 acres in just a matter of hours, actually, it was at 60 EXACTLY one hour ago, this is BS..........

Geez Dennis! I hope that Claudette will help you guys out! She's supposed to be in the southern part of Texas by Wednesday which means the weekend for you guys if her precipitation moves that far west. It maybe too little, too late to truly help keep this other fire from spreading too far. You guys are in my prayers buddy! I hope that that Fat Lady keeps her mouth shut!

Sorry to hear about the troubling news Dennis. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Michelle, and everyone involved.
Shannon... I forgot to mention that I got your books. Thanks! I looked through them and laughed all the way! Thanks for your kindness.
Well, I guess you have heard the saying (being the wxbuddies we are) "when it rains, it pours"? Well that is Pierce City's new motto, unfortunately. Friday night they were hit by 70 mph winds causing two buildings that remained standing, but exposed, to collapse. Then this morning they received tennis ball sized hail. I talked to the mayor this afternoon via telephone and he told me that there were several cars with window damage from the hail.
I became acquainted with the mayor and a few of the council members in April of this year when I was assigned to cover Pierce City and its antique stores. My story was published the Friday before the tornadoes. I do not have time this fall to write for the paper, but I will be doing a two part series on Pierce City. One discussing what they lost and the second about looking into the future. (Okay,okay... I kind of went off on a tangent.)
Hope you get to feeling better Kelly.

Not sure what your high was today Dennis, but I checked just a bit ago and it was still 90 at Pinetop. I topped out at 114 today...hottest (so far) this summer.
Hang back on your anger Dennis...while I can understand it, you may need your expertise and energy for better things tomorrow.
Meanwhile...be safe and keep a watchful eye on your southern horizon.
BTW, Garrett, I admire your writing skills. Got any sample you could send me via e-mail? Would like to read some of your material. You probably are aware of the trouble so many are in with their less-than-adequate writing skills in school. Makes me appreciate even more those young ones who dig in to learn those skills.

you were lucky. If you had been on one of the lakeside beaches in AZ and did that, you would now be in the hospital with 3rd Degree burns on your feet as ground temperatures can easily exceed 200F here. At 10cm below the surface, we would measure 140-160F routinely in the Summer.

And that was only the SAND temperature. :o I don't want to even THINK of the temperature of the blacktop. :o :o
How is everyone today? I, like everyone else; am worrying about Dennis and Michelle and praying that they will be OK.
Continued hot WX here, along with some humidity. The temp today when I got home at 2:50 PM was 76°; but with the humidity it felt like it was in the 80s.
Stay safe everyone. Joshua

OMILORDY Dennis, I have been on the tropics board and chat so much with Claudette that I have just now seen your post! I will call you later, I have both your numbers! My thoughts and prayers are with you!!
To all my other fellow porchers, I have missed you and I should be back more often now that Claudy has finally made a decision!
Yes, I have used alot of decorating ideas from Trading Spaces! I have almost completely re-done my house and when I run out of rooms, I will just start over!
Take care everyone and I will be back soon!

Good Morning,
Well....a very interesting week isn't it? With our fire, Claudette heading inland (at least I think that's what I heard this morning) AND........your not gonna believe THIS ONE, I was bitten on the left hand (my bad hand from the car accident 23 years ago), by a brown recluse spider Sunday evening, it's starting to look pretty nasty this morning *sigh* Boy......Gods REALLY putting us to a test BUT.......like it's been said over the years, it's *Trail by Fire*
Ah well....this too shall pass! Not much else to report, I just ask for continuing prayers that this fire is stopped before it hits the Rim, if it isn't stopped by then, May God have Mercy on us.

Az just put this in the topic "New Fire Near Pinetop AZ":
WE HAVE A NEW FIRE........JUST A HOP, SKIP AND A JUMP FROM THE HOUSE! I've sent some of you photos of the Sky Crane cruising directly over the house, this fire is a result of the collapsing Pyro, it created a MONSTER fire storm and flung hot embers over 2 miles away...........this IS the last post, we're outta here, prelim mandatory evac underway in about 2 hours, we're on road block duty today, tonight!
I hate to scare anyone but this is what we were all afraid would happen, keep the prayers FLYING!!!!!!!
Jeremy

Hello everyone.
The pictures I saw on Tuesday of Hurricane Claudette's landfall and aftermath were impressive for a hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 75 to 85 miles per hour, hours before and to landfall. Interestingly there were reports of maximum sustained winds of 85+ miles per hour, while at landfall it was said to have maximum sustained winds of 75 miles per hour.
The situation in Arizona with the wildfires sure is terrible. I appreciate knowing the news first hand from you, Dennis. It feels like we are a part of this unfortunate turn of events... it doesn't take long and this nation's forests are on fire.
I wasn't online/here at Storm2K much on Tuesday.
My father is in the hospital just a couple miles from my home, opposed to having to go to the nearest hospital that is about a half hour away. This new hospital was more so for the retirement community in which I live, it opened on Monday, July 15th, 2002.
He has a uninary tract infection [UTI] that actually made its way up to his kidney, thus he has a UTI/kidney infection (UTI is very rare among males). He was watching TV Sunday evening and all at once started getting severe chills along with frequent trips to the bathroom; because of the chills, he said he thought laying in his bed, under the covers would be best.
The next morning (Monday morning) my parents went to the hospital and after finding out that he indeed as UTI/kidney infection he was admitted and was at least going to spend the rest of Monday and a part of Tuesday there. The infection basically has improved and his fever went away Monday afternoon, but he had (a bit of) a fever Tuesday afternoon.
Thus, the doctor said that he will need to be monitored for at least three to four days.
I hope you get better soon, Jeremy.
I hope everyone has a Wonderful Wednesday.

Good morning everyone! With so much going on, from Claudette to the fires in Az to the severe wx here over the weekend, I haven't had much time to stop by the front porch and say good morning!
Tom... sorry to hear about your father. Here is hope for a speedy recovery!
Well, I don't know too much more. Does that shock some of you? :o
I guess I will just lie down in Breeze's hammock since she is at work and sing Hawaiian songs. Anyone have a ukelayleah (I know that is not how you spell it!) ?
Garrett
