Levi mentioned that there appears to be a bit of dry air stuck in or near the eye. Given how slow Hanna is, I think she’ll have enough time to mix it out.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

It does look like it's cutting it off about now....

Not an meteorologist! Just someone who is interested in weather. Please refer to the NHC and local weather officials to make decisions.

watch for the eye to start really contracting as land friction picks up.. it can still deepen quite quickly if this occurs.

I mean you no disrespect..but shear is a good thing from where Im sittin...harvey went pretty much where this one is goin...about 300 miles or so south of me..and I lost everything....so don't take my comment the wrong way... I know you are writing your posts in a meteorological viewpoint...so far here in Brazoria, just some rain and such... I'm good with that

Yeah I’m just saying how shear likely saved you from something more significant. Sorry about your loss!

Guidance has Hanna making landfall later at this point, 6z HMON didn't make landfall until after 0z. HWRF closer to 21z. If that is accurate then it should be closer to 6-10 more hours left over water. In a situation where pressure falls are significant, every hour will count.

Does it always look so brown or only because of the storm?

I'm not confident it will intensify the last few hours though, lots of land interaction could occur and halt progress

Hanna reminds me a lot of Ike and Alex. Big storm, very low MSLP but with comparatively low winds. Surge also tends to be a lot worse in these types of systems vs a normal Cat 1/2.

My posts are my own personal opinion, defer to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and other NOAA products for decision making during hurricane season.

If she had another day then it would've been a major at landfall maybe a cat 4.

Folks in SE TX lucked out.
