Good Morning!

Didn't stop by the porch yesterday, I too, like so many of you have been glued to the tropics.....whatta storm huh? Let's HOPE and PRAY she takes a turn north and spares the EC!

NWS FLAG had frost/freeze advisorys for last night/early morning.......so far the low, 41°........truthfully, I've got the forced air going, lighting a fire in the PBS wasn't warrented.....besides, it would burn most of the day and with a forecast high of 70°, that would have kept the house a *little too warm*! We did take the window A/C out, the box fans from the windows. The models are *hinting* at another major SW trough for next week sometime, could THIS MEAN SNOW???? MAN let's HOPE SO........I would LOVE to see us start on a EARLY, DEEP snowpack this year, we'll see!

That's it for now, papers here and I'm in DIRE need of another cuppa Joe! Happy Friday one and all!

HAPPY BDAY BRON!!!!!!!
Yep, the tropics are proving what Mother Nature is capable of right now!! I DO NOT wish this storm on anyone! Let's all say a prayer that she does as little damage as possible considering the scenario!

Getting ready for a football week-end and watch FSU beat Georgia Tech!! GO NOLES!

Well, take care everyone and I will be back in Off Topic as soon as the storms die down!! I do miss it!

Oh, I am so addicted to canes!

Good chilly morning all!

The slllllloooooooowwwwwww moving cold front is going to be coming through our area sometime today, so the temps are cool due to the clouds and dampness! I can't say I don't welcome the cool weather, and we most certainly need the rain!!

I am not a cane follower so much because I live in Iowa (lol), but I have to admit, Isabel is one impressive cane! I might even have to peek my head into the tropics sometime today!

Well, I think I am gonna go make myself comfortable on the couch and take a cat nap, my bro is sick so needless to say I was woke up more than once during the night, ewww. Take care everyone!

Happy TGIF Everyone :D

Its been an interesting week around here.

First, I amazingly had no homework on Wednesday night! I was totally awed that nothing was due on Thursday or Friday....I am a senior at UWGB, and this is the first time in my schooling at GB that I had no homework!!! :ggreen: :D :D

Second, ITS RAINING. :ggreen: I know it is only moisture, but this is the first rainfall that we have received in 20 days....the plants were waiting for it! Believe me, this rainfall is a welcome sight.

Third, my laptop decided to crash last night. :( :o :grr: The techs at Best Buy were saying that the LCD connection was fried, or disconnected. They plugged the laptop into a desktop monitor to see if that functioned, but to no avail. :grr: I'm not really sure, but all I know is that they have to send it to the Regional Tech Center to fix the problem. My laptop is only 2 years old. I'm hoping for the best, the least expensive charge for my to pay. If the charge is rather huge, then my best bet is to purchase a new laptop, but financially, I can't afford a brand new laptop right now.

Goodness, Isabel has developed into one massive and destructive hurricane. She has really screamed across the Atlantic basin with force! Even though I'm in Wisconsin, I'm still watching Isabel.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone :D

I know how you feel about the rain Shannon, we need it here too! Our front lawn is...well, yellow! :( But hopefully not for long, the local mets are calling for a soak-out tomorrow! Oh, and it is a bummer to hear about your laptop!

It is a fabulous night here! While I am sure it is cloudy under the dark canvas, the temp is just perfect to take a walk, and I think I just might do that! Have a great night everyone!

Good Morning Wxbuddies!

What a BEEE-UTE-EEEFUL morning! I so love the early morning hours, Michelle can't understand why I'm up at 0430-0445 every single morning......there's just something about it, the quite, the peace, the "CHILL!" It's a wonderful 38° at the moment, another 45 minutes till the sun peeks it's head over the peaks, could drop another ° or 2!

Well, it's been 6 weeks since the 1st diagnoses of pnuemonia, it's BACK and is it EVER back! I'm on my 3rd course of anti bios, this time, it seems to be kickin' it......let's hope so! Went to the sawbones later yesterday afternoon for yet another breathing treatment, seems everyone that has this crude, they too, have had it come back 10 fold, sawbones said that with the drastic change in temps like this, it's gonna be a LOOOOOONG winter for a lot of folks with this p-moan-ya!

Anyways, not much on the schedule today, MAYBE a round of golf as soon as it warms up a tad! Make it a great day would ya?

Hi everyone,

I've never been big on the front porch (or the potbelly stove for that matter) because my memory isn't good enough to follow more than one conversation at a time! I've figured out a workaround. I just open Internet explorer twice, tune them both into the front porch, reduce their sizes so they both fit on my monitor, and work on my replies in the one instance and browse the other. How's that!

The tropics has been hopping and things have been slow in O-T

Now then,

Dennis, That p-u monia is really tenacious! But I know that you are a tough old bird and will prevail. I really enjoy the cool mornings too. I'm always the first one up too (and the last one to bed) Sleeping 6 hours gets me an extra day every 9 or 10 days!

It's raining today. Bummer, it's been really wet and the lawn is out of control again. StormCrazy, you can have some of our grass, we won't miss it. Hope your brother is feeling better.

Pojo, sorry about your laptop. Is it recoverable? It's ironic that your 'puter crashed when you had no homework!

Gulfbreezer, I'm sorry, but I'll have to pull for Geogia Tech :P
It's the Paterno vs. Bowden thing. Nothing personal, my friend. I am happy that you have that surgery and that whole situation behind you.

Oh, yes Az, it is time to remove the A/C's, bad back and all :(

Hey JCT, how have you coped with this rainy year? Where the heck is Spring Mount anyway?

Pburg, is there any cake left? 4-day-old is fine with me! Lotsa icing I hope.

Amanzi, happy belated birthday. I hope you had a good day celebrating this gift of life. I was happy to hear about your residency staus update.

Stephanie, good to hear from you. As they say in Philly: "Yo!"
That puts me in the mood for a "steak" I'll bet you're hoping that "Izzy" won't come for a visit.

On a personal note: We got a letter from our landlord. :o
they are "updating" their files and want us to sign a new lease. Rent will go up $25. I guess that's not bad after 7 years. They also want to do an inspection of the house. :o In 7 years they have never set foot in this house, so I can't really complain. We are in the hurry up and fix up mode right now. Painting, new flooring in the hallway and bathroom, tub caulking, scrubbing, picking up dog poop in the back yard, etc, etc. I don't anticipate any problem, but it is just a little unsettling. We will see......

take it easy,
c-ya all.

Good afternoon everyone!

And boy is it damp out!! We are getting MUCH needed rain, so it's a good day to me! LOL Coriolis, after today we probably won't even need your grass, it has been raining steadily since about 9am here (maybe longer- but I sure wasn't awake for it!)

Dennis, I hope ya kick the pneumonia this time!

And with all this said, I think I will spend the afternoon up in my room, working on one of my blankets! ( I crochet blankets, and I have 3 of them going right now! That's me, I always start another project before I finish the first one!) I hope to have them all done by Christmas time, but I don't know if I will, I only use the cool and wet days like these to work on them in the summer/fall, but once winter hits it is my #2 activity, #1 of course is posting on S2K! :D So y'all have a good Saturday ok?

Good Morning!

As with 99.9% of the East Coast, I've been completely buried in the tropics watching Isabel....gotta admit, I never gave a hoot about the tropics until now, with so many of our wxbuddies *under the gun*...one can't help but stay focused! Please, by all means, those of you who may be impacted.."STAY READY" to evacuate, trust me.....when they call for evacuation "DO IT!"

"ED!" How the heck are you buddy? WELCOME to the porch......soon to be the "Pot Belly Bunch!" Hope you got some help taking the A/C's out.....I did the same thing last week.

Thanks Jackie......I'm doing my best to kick this *crud*, it's TERRIBLE, although it's NOT the old time, traditional p-moan-ya, it's still a booger.

Speaking of Christmas gifts Jackie, I too, like you, am working away in the woodshop on my gifts, trying to finish them up EARLY for a change!

The weather?? UNBELIEVABLE......lows in the upper 30's...highs in the upper 60's to lower 70's with a N-NE breeze every afternoon, no WONDER why I love fall, no KILLER humidity!

Speaking of autumn etc......it's almost time for the 28th Annual Fall Festival, can't WAIT, we are home to the LARGEST antique, hot rod, trick cars in the west! I'll take a LOT of photos this year and make another webshots album!

Well....that's nuff outta me this morning, make it a GREAT day even if it's MONDAY "BLEEECK!"

Sorry I wasn't around yesterday  ... had computer problems. I had major S2K withdrawals. Missed y'all and am glad to be back. :D

Let's hope Izzy doesn't cause that big of a problem if and when she decides to do her thing. :o I will be watching and praying.

Well, I haven't heard anything yet about my laptop...I'm praying that it is recoverable. The main thing that I am worried about is the fixing price. I'll have to wait to see what Best Buy says.

We had a solid 2 days of rainfall....boy did that do wonders on our vegetation!!! The grass is green, the plants are florishing! My brother has to mow the lawn tonight (its been 3 weeks since last mowing!)

Josh, I know what you mean about puter problems....read the situation about my laptop.

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone.

Watching and waiting for Isabel. She seems to be losing some punch. Maybe we'll get some disoriented seagulls here in central PA.

Josh and Pojo, I hope you resove your 'puter problems. Mine's getting like an older car- I'm always tinkering with it to get it running right. Thank goodness for system restore!

I know what you mean about fall Dennis, the cool nights and the delightful days.

I have been watching Isabelle also through the message boards at weather.com. It is a little scary I hope it stays out to sea and doesn't hurt anybody. Everybody over at Weather.com has their own theories as to what this storm is going to do.
Dennis I think I would agree to being up early if I could get up that early. I have enough problems getting up @ almost 7 to go to work.

Good afternoon y'all!

I wasn't around much yesterday.... I was feeling a bit under the weather.... so now I am just catching up! This place is growing so fast NOTHING is the same as I left it!

Well, looks like my job-less phase is coming to an end, the good ol' folks at WalMart hired me today, and I am actually glad to be going back to work! Now I just have to wait for my orientation (we are opening a new store closer to my house, so it'll be a week or so) and I will be back on my feet! YAY!

Well, the anticipation for Isabel is a real killer, even for someone who lives in Iowa! I hope everyone listens to the evacuation orders and prepares themselves! If people do, then maybe we can get through this without the loss of life!

Well, I'm off to check on the latest, later!

Congratulations on the job at Wally World! Hope it works out for you,

You are right about the anticipation for Isabel. Still plenty of unanswered questions.

Breezy but warm here in the desert Southwest. Highs just over 100 today. Sun angle helps, though...believe it or not!

Cough, Cough....sure, if you want to listen to my cell phone voice mail. Be My Guest! Let me put it in Lemans Terms....MOTHER BOARD! Enough said?

My mom told me that my step-dad's job might be cut. He works for Glatfelter in Neenah (a papermill) and they are slashing jobs on Oct 25th. He might be one of them. Hopefully, he might be able to transfer to a different department cuz of his seniority, but all we can do now is hope and pray. He as yet to return back to work because of his heart stint. (sept 25th he goes back)

Needless to say, its been a fun Thursday. I hope yours is 100 x better than mine!

Mother board?! OUCH.

I am sorry to hear about your step-dad's job! I know how that is, both my dad and step-mom were cut from ALCOA last January and times were rough for a while, but things will work out in the end. My step-mom got called back, and my dad found a good job after a while too. Kick back and relax girl! I hope your day gets better!

I am just watching coverage on Izzy, and lurking around here in S2K! I woke up at 12:30! :grrr: I hadn't gotten much sleep the last 2 nights and stayed out late last night, but I didn't expect to sleep so late! Whenever I do, I feel like I have lost a day pretty much! But I'll be ok. With that, I have more lurking to do, later everyone!

That's not cool! Does he have experience in anything else? B/c my dad was working well, in alcoa, but now he does maintenance in a hospital laundry building, and gets paid almost the same. Just have to keep the faith! And I know it isn't easy, I should practice what I preach sometimes! Just pray that something happens between now and then and he won't be cut!
