DT, if you are suggesting that I copied your statement...you are incorrect...this is my personal analyzation for today.

Anyways, it looks like Charley has entered a rapid intensification phase that may continue into a rapid deepening phase later. I do not believe it will explosively deepen, but it is not yet time to rule that out.

Charley may climb as high as 140 mph before striking Cuba through this intensification phase.

I think this has got a reasonable chance of being a Category 4. Catastrophe in the making. :(

My grandmother is a little north of Tampa and I'm having trouble convincing her of how serious this is. She doesn't want me to come pick her up just yet. She wants to wait and hear more advisories before she makes a decision on whether or not to evacuate.

I have nothing to add as to thoughts about this intensifying. They only thing I can offer is my prayers. Everyone stay safe.
...Jennifer...

Tell her the winds are up to 105 mph, it's going to be a Cat 3, maybe a Cat 4 when it slams into her.

GET HER OUT OF THERE IF YOU HAVE TO DRAG HER!!!

Brent.. I hate to agree with you yet again.. But I think you're right..

I'm going to be on the right side of this bad boy.. so I think things will get interesting around here..

Someone even brought up the idea earlier to me that If I find out a shelter opens up.. I should take the chance and go there depending on how strong Charley gets before he arrives..

I don't plan on going to a shelter.. but a Cat 4 storm.. or a strong Cat 3 would definitely make me ponder lol

Another thought (again about the eye)

If you go back and look at satellite pictures of Gilbert...the eye looks very similar in size and appearance to Charley's....of course this means nothing to strength (yet) but I thought it was interesting...

I have to agree with Rainband on this for one reason. The Subject line of this message reads "Charlie Wont Make Tampa Bay" meaning perhaps some new information regarding this has been found. But upon entering the topic, I found it to be one member's opinion on the possible track of the storm. At this point, with the storm approaching I dont think such things are prudent. Its alright to share an opinion, but to put things out there like "Miami in the Clear" or "Panhandle wont feel any effect from Charlie" would be a bit irrepsonsible at this time. Dont flame me! Im not saying anyone needs to be censored, Im just saying maybe a little tact should be used because now you are talking about the danger that people and property may or may not be in.

Well I am not far from you Jonathan and people here are boarding up their houses. Charley is a cat 2 at 105 already and they say it won't be here until tomorrow. My guess is it will be a cat 3 at Tampa Bay.

Even though most people would listen to the NHC or TWC instead of enthusiasts on a board, I understand your point Rainband.

gilbert had hurricane force winds in some radius of 150 miles from the center, and tropical storm force over 400 miles radius I believe. that is incredible
