have you seen the latest shear maps - looking much more favorable now even into the GOM. But strong shear is over Florida still

Exactly my thoughts, certainly alot quicker than many anticipated last night.

Which area has a more favorable environment for developement? the west to TX route or the East to FL route?


The track of the possible disturbance/possible TD is quite questionable until it becomes more clear where the weakness in the ridge to its' North actually takes place. Current thinking by some puts that weakness basically in the central to W GOM, from what I have seen.

I am hoping the conditions in the GOM do not improve substantially over the next few days. A little TD or tropical disturbance would be fine for a few areas, but other areas can't even stand that.

The latest shear maps shows conditions are much more favorable now. There is 5-10K of shear across the GOM and that is it....

No Advance be careful of what you wish for. You might get more than you want in the line of surf.

On the other side of things. I am no expert but is the brown area in the Gulf-Doesn't that represent dry air? Is that supposed to leave the Gulf? Just wondering.
