Iran Shots Down a U.S Drone

:uarrow: :uarrow: :uarrow: :uarrow:

I would caution the members that this information comes out of Iran and no independant confirmation has surfaced so far about this news.Let's see if later in the day more information is released to see if it's true or not.

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) - President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Thursday that Iran was prepared for any possibility in the standoff with the West over its controversial nuclear activities.

"Today, with the grace of God, we have gone through the arduous passes and we are ready for anything in this path," state-run television quoted Ahmadinejad as saying Thursday.

Ahmadinejad also denounced critics of his nuclear diplomacy at home, saying that they will not affect his government's handling of the nuclear issue with the West.

Conservatives and reformists have in recent weeks openly challenged Ahmadinejad's hard-line nuclear diplomacy tactics, with many saying his provocative remarks are doing more harm than good.

The U.S. and its allies accuse Iran of secretly trying to develop nuclear weapons, an allegation Tehran denies.

I hope that the reformists inside Iran gain the upper hand on this lunatic soon.

Of course Iran is visiting NK

As I have said 200,000 times here, NK is the country calling the shots, not Iran. We MUST deal with NK first, before taking down Iran and Venezuela, or else Mentallyill will just find another country to give us BS

Perhaps an opportunity to step back from the brink:

The Sunday Times January 21, 2007

Iran’s strongman loses grip as ayatollah offers nuclear deal
Marie Colvin and Leila Asgharzadeh, Tehran

IRAN’S supreme leader is considering a change of policy on the country’s nuclear programme in an effort to defuse growing tension with the West, according to senior sources in Tehran.

Alarmed by mounting US pressure and United Nations sanctions, officials close to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei favour the appointment of a more moderate team for international negotiations on the supervision of its nuclear facilities.

The move would be a snub to the bellicose president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, whose threats to destroy Israel have left Iran increasingly isolated and facing a serious economic downturn.

Tehran sources said the impetus for a policy switch was coming from Khamenei, who has ultimate power over Iran’s foreign policy, security and armed forces.

Well the Ayatollah wants to destroy Isreal as well no doubt.. as do most of the muslims in the middle east.. This changes nothing. Sure there is some dissent..but mostly because of increased finacial tensions and the fact we don't trust them. Even if they can buy a few more years they will make it seem like they are playing along until they are ready. Heck inspecting now does little good anyways. Now in 5 years or so when they will be much closer to develpoing nukes that will be crunch time for inspections. Who cares if we can watch them do exactly what we already know because they are telling us. Once those thousands centrifuges are finished they will be so much closer that the diplomatic process might not have time to work..

Is it looking more and more like we need to start building make-shift fallout shelters in our basements? Stock up on some extra food everytime you take a trip to the store? Or tell our children what is going on right now, and what might happen?

No. The greater threats are overconsumption and the destruction of ecosystems around the world combined with an energy crisis in the next thirty years. We have more to be worried about in fishery depletion in the oceans for world peace than a nuclear armed Iran.

Let's see what will the Iranians do when the USS Stennis Carrier and it's ships that are with it arrives in the Persian Gulf next month.

Above is the moment when the aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis steams out of the naval base at Kitsap Bremerton, Wa., on Tuesday on its way to the Gulf.
