Just to illustrate the oddity, of course the best modern El Nino we all remember is 2009/2010 for the snow. For the cold, the best stretch was early-mid January.

I think we have ample time to work on precipitation and if this turns into a long duration event, that would really increase the chances we could see something. Also, I keep hearing February looks cold too.

Early on 1040s in W-Can. upper 1050s around the Beaufort Sea. I'm not too concerned about HP in this set up. This is TPV displacement, the heavy, dense cold will pool with that. This is all about the vast area of dense, cold surface air.

That 00z Euro is impressive… but would be afraid for the grid with that kinda storm.

We’ll have to see how the ensembles look after that run.

Euro doesn't have the immediate cold shot after like the other OPs. Warms up late week.

Buuuut...the blocking up north is ridiculous. More cold pooling in Pac NW.
