You want an Aleutian ridge that progresses east into -EPO over Alaska is preferable.

Do you have any idea why all the teleconnections are turning against us? Is it the tropical forcing not favorable currently?

Regardless of what happens (I am hoping for a colder trend obviously ) If the Christmas system does cut up west, there is the potential for some severe weather. Lets see what the 0Z GFS has to say.

i really can't believe the GFS has gone on such a bad trend with the Christmas storm.... I didn't really buy the 2 foot blizzard in OK it had, but I figured it at least had the right idea, that there'd be a snowstorm nearby at least and a cold rain here or something. I never thought 2 days later we'd be talking about rain into Canada and quite possibly tornadoes on the same day. *shrugs*

That said, I do think regardless what happens with the Christmas storm, there's plenty of winter left. I figured there'd be a warmer period at some point, afterall, where we live, it almost never stays cold. Probably deeper into January will be better, and in all honestly, DFW's best winter months are hardly ever December... it's usually January or even February for snow.

GFS has been trending the baja low to come out sooner and get of the way. If that's the case then the more southern trend might be potential. It really has been all over the place with it.

0z Euro some rain Christmas Eve and highs near 70... Christmas Day is largely dry with temperatures in the 70s. Rain increases Christmas Night into Monday morning, front does clear DFW at least and seasonal temps beyond that. More rain Wednesday next week. No more freezes after tonight the entire run.

I've managed to stop the cold front from moving through southeast Texas next Monday in the GFS runs. Still working on the EC runs, as it has the front moving through next Monday. It's not strong, though. This WILL be a nice, warm Christmas across Texas. We may even set a record warm low on Christmas Day in Houston.

Euro indicates a weak front moving across Texas from west to east early next week, and another on the 29th that might produce some thunderstorms ahead of it. Mostly Pacific air, though. I'm not planning on leaving Texas again over the next month or two, so I'll be in control of the weather.

It's almost comical now how he seems to literally have control of the weather. Coincidence when he was gone it was cold and now that he's back it's warming up?

35F here. Not even close to freezing. Dewpoint remained in the teens though, there was too much of a breeze for temps to crater.
