Dang! It just started raining. Completely out of the blue. Literally!

And formed a nice t-storm right at the coast. I bet Rainband is getting a nice storm!

The weather radio just went off for SvrT-storm in St. Pete.

Really Strong Thunderstorm hit, Very Strong Wind Gusts
of 50 mph preceeded it, with large trees bending all the
way over.

RECORDED GUSTS OVER 60 MPH PINELLAS COAST, 46 MPH SAINT PETE.
Maximum Gust: 63 MPH, Treasure Island.
My Estimate of 50 mph was pretty close to correct!!!

A record high temperature of 98 degrees was set at Tampa today as of
5 PM. This ties the old record of 98 set in 1985.

Statement as of 7:46 PM EDT on June 06, 2008


... Strong thunderstorms will continue to affect southern Pinellas
County...

A cluster of strong thunderstorms... moving west at 9 mph... will
continue to affect southern Pinellas County until 830 PM EDT.
Locations affected include Saint Petersburg beach... Saint
Petersburg... Seminole and Pinellas Park. Gusty winds of 40 to 50 mph
may cause loose objects to blow around. Minor damage to tree limbs
and wires is possible. Excessive cloud to ground lightning is
expected! This storm will produce pea size hail. Torrential rains
will cause ponding of water on roads... and minor flooding of poor
drainage areas.

I was in the SVR. Winds werent too bad, and neither was the rain. Just to the SW of me looked very bad. A few very close lightning strikes though.

CONTINUE TODAY WITH STRONG SUBSIDENCE IN DEEP LAYER RIDGING
CENTERED ACROSS THE SOUTHEAST STATES
. FCST SOUNDINGS ONLY SHOW
AROUND 1.25 INCHES PWAT FOR S FLA AND THE CURRENT GPS SATELLITE
ESTIMATE IS 1.2 INCHES ACROSS THE ENTIRE REGION. THIS WILL LEAD TO
ONLY ISOLD POPS FOR ALL ZONES WITH THE CONCENTRATION BEING ALONG
THE EAST COAST IN THE MORNING AND INTERIOR/SW CST IN THE
AFTERNOON.
