Well, there's a shocker!

I agree with Ed on the previous page about painting with a very broad brush. I'm a Southern Baptist and while I don't know the specifics of that school, I believe a Fundamental Baptist is a Bible-believing Baptist. I believe the Bible. Does that make me a Fundamental Baptist? Shouldn't all Christians believe the Bible? I also love rock music and I dance and I have never had anyone tell me that something was wrong with me. lol
My pastor (well, I haven't attended that church in a while, since before I moved) is such a great Christian leader, the nicest guy you'll ever meet. His sermons are insightful, enjoyable, and often even a little humorous. He's a young guy, married with little kids. He watches American Idol. We'd talk about 24 all the time and I remember him being surprised that I didn't watch AI. They'd all be talking about who was going home, etc. and I finally started watching it Season 6. I guess he's kinda hard to explain... an inspiration to others, rock solid in his faith, but also a little down to earth.

You can enjoy rock music and still love God. :P

As for this specific situation, I agree with what many others have said. The time to disagree with this rule was BEFORE you signed the contract and agreed to abide by the school's rules.

I can see with where he is making his argument though. Was it written that they couldn't listen to rock music and dance on school grounds, or was it written that they could not attend public dances, PERIOD?

If it is the second, that is going way too far into someone's personal life...what are going to do? Follow him everywhere, spying to see if he goes to a public dance? "Hey guys, A1374 is on the move! I think he's going over to this high school for their dance! Quick, write up the papers to suspend him!" oh wait...he was just going to wal-mart...

If they cannot attend public dances period, then what if it was a public fundraiser? Would he be banned from those too, because he signed a piece of paper? The proms at my school were always fundraisers for the next year's seniors. That's where part of the money for homecoming, prom, etc came from. Mainly prom, if you planned on renting a place out for the dance.
