While that's not Ivan's wave in particular, which is a blob or 2 to the east, that one is scary. I hope it poofs, cause otherwise...

As good as it looks, I’m not holding out hope for development. Been fooled too many times by these delicious looking blobs that exit Africa only to poof days later! However, were this mid-August, I would be more concerned.

Yeah agree with you, but we should continue to keep an eye in case of Abajan, we never knows how Tropics can evolve quickly. For sure an impressive blob for July...

The wave that Ivanhater has been following and caused him to make this topic is not the one that is emerging right now, but the big one that is still in WestCentral Africa.

It's not wether nor not the convection poofs as that's going to come and go. It's whether the structure poofs. So far the structure still looks intact...

Does not look so poofy with my untrained eyes... has maintained a part of its structure. But let's see wait and see if the poofy :cheesy: trends holds or not.

Sigh... Folks, Ivanhater is talking about the wave that is still inland - around noon GMT today it was at 10E and 15N. You can see it VERY clearly in the image Gustywind posted above.

viewtopic.php?p=2015213#p2015213

The wave that just exited the coast wasn't even around 24 hours ago, it is just a blob of storms that blew up around 19:00 GMT last night. You can see the history of the African waves for the past 48 hours here:
http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/eumet/eatl/flash-avn.html
[note that does not yet show the wave in question in this thread]

and for the past 24 hours here:
http://oiswww.eumetsat.org/IPPS/html/MS ... /index.htm

It wouldn't surprise me at all if the exiting "wave" poofs, as I don't think it was ever much of a real wave. Just some storms that fired up.

But the wave behind has been looking pretty impressive for 2-3 days. That could be a more serious player down the road.

I'm just an amateur, this is all my personal opinion.... others here know much more.

This one is undoubtably one that needs to be watched, you don't get that presentation without something going for ya...
