So, is "Rollback" a derogatory term now?

I've always enjoyed shopping at Wal-Mart....and am very thankful we have a 24 hour supercenter here in Douglasville.

Let's try and remember these illegal aliens were (from what I saw on the news) most if not all members of store cleaning crews. Take it from an experienced security officer: most cleaning crews around metro Atlanta I've seen have quite a few hispanic ladies and gentlemen employed (especially on the night shift)....at almost every security post I've been stationed during the past fifteen years (retail stores/ mall; hospitals; manufacturing plants/ distribution centers; office buildings; restaurants). I can't say for sure if any are in the U.S. illegally....but my sneaking suspicion is probably quite a few are (especially since I've witnessed some of them run and hide when police cars come by the jobsite).

I dont think Wal Mart is responsable either.. j question for you. When you hire a roofing crew (just an example) do you check all the employees backgrounds before you let the company work for you? I would guess not. You would leave that up to the owner of the company. Much like the rest of us would do. Much like Wal Mart did.

and I also agree with rainbands first statement. The Govt knows about all the "Illegals" we have here, and they just to do basicly NOTHING about it, and in some cases "help" them out.

Bottom line, I think the owners of the cleaning service are responsable

I agree with you Chad. Take the distribution center where my father is security supervisor...he doesn't work FOR the distribution center...but instead for Guardsmark -- who was awarded the contract for maintaining security at this facility.
Who hires every security officer for this facility? Dad does...it's HIS job (and Guardmark's) to screen, interview, hire, train, equip, and supervise the folks who guard the distribution center 24/7/365.

The cleaning crews are the same way at the plant where dad works, and at many large retailers. They are contracted out to private cleaning services who hire and document the employees. For example, "EDS" or "ACME" pays and trusts outside companies to provide cleaning of the EDS or ACME facilities.

I seriously doubt the Wal-Mart store manager hires his cleaning crews directly. Even if it's done in-house (hired directly by Wal-Mart and not a private contract cleaning service), it's likely done by a Wal-Mart "facility manager" or "maintainance supervisor"....store management (and Wal-Mart upper management) never even meets many of these folks who clean their stores; especially those working late at night (like the supercenter here in D'ville that is open 24/7).

If what I've witnessed while working night security here in metro Atlanta is the rule everywhere (and my first security job was with Pinkerton at age 19); the Federal Government would have to fine or prosecute over 80% of the businesses located in this area....there are IMO that many illegal aliens employed here...as grounds maintainance, day laborers, construction workers, janitorial cleaners, etc.

You know, yesterday when I first saw this topic, I was in a state of exhaustion and not in the best mood, so I didn't want to touch on it, but today I am fine! First of all, Perry is absolutely correct! These "illegal" employees were CLEANING crews, not in any way employed by WalMart, rather temp agencies!! WalMart is very thorough in their hiring process, I should know, I am a good employee and it took them 3 interviews to hire me!! More important (Second, lol), WalMart is an honorable store! Yes, Sam Walton, founder, creator and wonderful man may be dead, but that doesn't mean his foundation is!! In my orientation, we watched over an hour of movies explaining WalMart's history and how very important it is to keep his brainchild alive, and the same store it was way back when!! True, times change, as do the stores, but one thing remains the same: WalMart still has that same dedication and respect for the individual!! We start everyday with a cheer, and remind ourselves just what it is we are there to accomplish, and I am a PROUD to be an associate of WalMart!! When doing the WalMart bashing, did everyone forget how much money we make EVERYDAY to give to the Children's Miracle Network and other charaties? Gee, sure is an awful fact! BTW......anyone ever notice that they go after the BEST of the best to stir trouble? Just a thought! I don't mean to come off strong or harsh, but I don't like to hear bad things about my employers, I am an employee who takes her job very seriously!!

Good for you Jacki, that's something to be PROUD OF! Very few people take their jobs serious anymore, they're only in it for the paycheck, that's it!

Yeah, I've got a problem with WalMart and their business practices, y'all know the reason why so I won't go into details here BUT........Chads right, it's the contractors responsibility, not WalMarts. We sub (subcontract) a lot of our work out, we have to, if the subs are working illegal aliens and they get busted, it doesn't come back on us, it falls on the subs head!
