So sorry to hear that you're feeling bad, Mary. :(
Have you covered in prayer, Wxbuddy. :)

Here's some flu facts:

* Flu is an acute infection of the airway tract in the nose and throat that can sometimes spread down into the lungs. It is the most frequent cause of acute respiratory illness and can affect people of all ages. It occurs every year mainly in late fall and early winter and in a widespread fashion affecting many people of different ages at the same time. The peak season for the flu is from November through March.

* Some also confuse the flu illness with the term stomach flu. The latter is an illness associated with nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea and can be caused by bacteria or viruses, other than the flu. It is a stomach illness, whereas flu is an illness of the respiratory system in the body.

We've lost 6 kids and 17 senior citizens so far to the flu in Az.....it's TERRIBLE out here, even WORSE in Colorado.

Mary, I HOPE like HADES you don't have it.....when we were in Flagstaff yesterday, seems like every 3rd person I saw in Kohls, Target, Michaels, Pier 1 was either sniffling, coughing, gaging and blowing their noses, I too, thought the SAME thing, "WHY am I HERE?"

There was even an article statement in the local paper (Roanoke Rapids Daily Herald) on Friday: "If you have the flu virus, please stay at home and keep it to yourself."

1 child died last weekend in NC from the flu.

I'm going to put off my routine examination for my hypoglcemia to May! Not having any problems anyway. No sense in exposing (no folks...not undressing!) myself in the waiting room with this late fall's/soon winter's widespread epidemic!

Dennis, I even think churches should hold off on the "Greet Your Neighbor" segment part of the service until at least sometime in April!

Man, it's SCARY out there!

Dennis - me too! I was supposed to watch my niece this evening. Her mom is a nurse and told me I was contagious to everyone at that party last night, if I indeed have it. What I do have is mild, but it sure hit me like a ton of bricks. I slept off and on all afternoon, aches, chills, low grade temp. Geez, I just don't need this. Does anyone? Anyway, she didn't want to bring her child over so I'm off the hook in the baby-sitting dept. Whew, didn't really want to sit feeling this way! Her mom works the overnight nursing shift and her husband is disabled. So she need overnight care, long story. Thankfully the little girl's Grandma will take her.

Thanks for the info Eric. It is confusing. I did think this was going into a stomach viral thing, but not now. This does feel like a touch of the flu. I'm just glad I got that shot! That might be why it's mild so far. Knock on wood.

Yes sir Eric......in our church, the pastor refers to it as the Holy Kiss, as Jesus said, Greet Everyone with a Holy Kiss! WELL.....we don't KISS "LOL!" We do, however, have *Hug time*.

It's unfortunate that I have 2 more sawbones appt that I HAVE to keep, we're going to Sedona for our wedding anniversary on New Years Eve, heaven knows I "DON'T" want to be ill! I've been eatin' the Echinacia pills like candy lately, seems to be doing the trick!

Miss Mary, I'm sorry that you are feeling ill - I hope it isn't the flu, though what you are describing sounds very much like it. I've heard that it does come over you all of a sudden.

Stephanie - thanks! It did come completely out of the blue. Wham - I was so dizzy. Good thing I wasn't driving!

So far it seems to be mild. Just getting lots of rest, fluids and chicken soup.

So now this is two of us that's caught the flu. Sure hope it doesn't spread in my family.

Just what you needed Miss Mary. I certainly hope you feel better soon. There is another type strand out there however, that the flu vaccine does not help with. Praying for you girl. ((HUGS))

Three kids now have died from flu in NC!
Last week a 6 yr-old boy in Montgomery County, and today read that a 3 yr-old boy in Wilkes County and a 22-month old boy in Wake County have!

My Mom heard today on the news that flu shot serum companies apparently have shipped left-over serum from last year to be given to peeps this year! :grrr:
Why left-overs I'm wondering...!

Cold temperatures kills germs [kills bacteria], such as the common cold, flu and other illnesses that affect the immune system.

Warm, humid conditions can produce mold spores.

Well, whatever I had is long gone now. It wasn't as bad as I was reading about, so could I have had a mild case of the flu? Incredible as it sounds, maybe that was the case. I did take my shot, in late October. It had plenty of time to kick in. Stay well everyone. I think I got lucky.

Luis - thanks! I will say whatever it was came on so suddenly. That's a classic symptom of the flu going around. One minute I was fine, the next in bed. I was so dizzy! Just glad I was at home. Sure didn't need 2 days out of my busy week down and out. But I'm back up again. LOL

You are right Ticka. Actually, when someone gets sick around here and they claim to have the flu, normally it isn't actually the flu they are getting. Stomach virus and a severe cold are usually the culprits around here. And as for everyone getting sicker during cold weather is because the germs are trapped indoors because the windows and doors are shut tight for too long. Germs getting on everything and just waiting for the next unsuspecting victim.

HAve to add one more detail here. Most of the public buildings around here use a boiler system for heat. And most of the time, this results in higher humidity in the buildings which makes for a great breeding ground for virus'
