Pets: How many, what kind

two hampsters, one dwarf hampster, one gerbil, and some hermit crabs. (the kids' pets)
3 dogs, american pit bull terriers: Onyx, the ever eager alpha male, (he's only gotten lucky a few times) He's about two years old, supposedly with colby blood, shiny black with a white streak between his eyes and a white chest. He's perfectly proportioned, muscular, with a medium size head and probably about 60 pounds. We got him as a young pup. He's a good watch dog, he barks at anything unfamiliar, but is a big scardy cat. Bandit just turned one, he's the son of Onyx and is ram-y as all get out. He's all black with white on his face and chest. He has a perfect black circle around his one eye and should be in the movies. His leg are short so he's kind of long and low. Beauty is a tan and white 3-yr old neutered female, adopted from the SPCA. She's smallish, about 30 pounds, and she has black markings around her mouth and eyes that lool like lipstick and mascara. She has no problem getting over our 6-foot fence to steal bones from our neighbors doberman and then bringing them back. She never got into any other trouble, but we have to watch her when she's out in the back yard. She's fearless and very smart. She'll cuddle up in our bed and lay on her back asking us to tickle her belly. She "talks" to us with a kinds of doggy vocalizations. They all 3 listen to us and are submissive even to our kids. They've never shown a shred of aggression towards people, even strangers. We have to watch their tails though, they wag hard. They like to chase each other, wrestle and play fight, but have never injured each other. Their ears and tails are natural. Wonderful dogs. I could go on....

Ed - our dog "talks" to us too! It's always late at night and directed at my husband, her "daddy". First time she did it, I nearly peed my pants it was so funny! OMG, she gives us this low sounds, not really barks but they are talking doggie sounds. We imitate her and prompt her by saying - do you want to talk to us Hope? And that sets her off. The first time it went on for a good 15 minutes and we wish now we had video taped her. We'd win I'm sure on the American's Funniest Home Video's show. Now it's just hit or miss, but again, it is hilarious when she gets like this. It's almost like she's vying for control in the family. Since she knows Jim is the alpha dog around here. LOL Kids look at their parents when this all starts and think we are just nuts to talk to a dog!
I had neighbors growing up who taught their dog to say - "I wanna to go out." And I swear it did sound somewhat like that! Just a series of barks, close together that you had to listen very intently to but it sounded like that dog was really saying those words! Now that should have been taped......this was over 30 years ago. That talking dog is up in animal heaven by now.

I have two furrballs!!
Boots- She's one tough cookie!! Not a good cat for most, as she only maintains her cool around my mom, my step-dad and I, everyone else gets a hiss or a swat!
She can be very very sweet if she's hungry though!!! We say the only reason we keep her around is because she's so darn pretty!! She'll be 5 in July.
and Buddy- He's the sweetest lil' thing!! We CANNOT believe that Boots is his momma!! For one, he is about twice her size, and two, he is the kindest cat we've ever owned!! Buddy thinks he is a dog however, he eats human food, can't stand fish (therefore no cat food as all are fish flavored), he plays fetch, and even goes outside in the summer days on a leash!!
We kid around that Boots had an affair with a dog the night she conceived as well, he's just like a man's best friend!! He will be three years old next month!

My wife and I have the "Brady Bunch" pet family...
When I met her, she had two dogs, a shepard-collie named Oreo who holds the world's record for most annoying, high-pitched, spine-shattering bark ever; and a greyhound named Cinder who's afraid of her own shadow; and a cat named Junior, who in his first year of life was hit by a car, tore up his leg on a fence, and was SHOT with a BB gun (the pellet is still resting against his spine, and his tail is paralyzed). He lost one of his legs due to the fence injury. But he's the sweetest cat I've ever seen, and he even lets my kids play with him, despite the fact that they're so little and not always careful.
I originally moved in with her with my two cats, a black puffball named George who was born in my bedroon closet while I was cat-sitting for a friend (I got the bonus package!), and an all-black, part Siamese named Gracie (get it? George and Gracie? Ha ha ha... oh, never mind.)
Since then we've taken in two rescues: Trey, who has a heart defect but thinks he's a dog; and Butterball, who was abused and abandoned, but is right up there with Junior in the sweetest cat category.

I have a very verbal cat too that weighs 25 pounds. He is a Turkish Van named Tobey. When you pick him up he just goes limber which makes him more heavy than he really is. If you plan on sneaking in my daughters room or act like you are going to harm her, not a good idea. He protects her and will git ya.

Used to have a siamese named "Tinker" that had a long long body. You could drape this cat around your next and wear it like a mink. No hands..tthe cat would just lay there draped.

LOL...Lindaloo. Our cats are large too. I think it's because they are spayed and indoor kids. We were feeding them Cat Chow..until the vet said it had too much Crude Fat. We switched to Nutro..Max cat lite. They lost weight and have no more urinary tract infections. The UTI comes from too much Crude fatLindaloo wrote:LOL j I bet that was so cute!! If you wore him out to dinner and someone tried to rub that fur wrap, wouldn't that be funny as heck when the fur moved and meowed? LOL!!

Well, Annabelle (she BE a ho') has her good points...tiny dog, BIG mouth! She "informs" us of "intruders" 200 yards away!
I have to keep telling her that "This is a No-Ahhr-Ahhr Zone"....she doesn't listen. Then, at dinnertime, she stares at me with those BIG "browns" (snif)...and I tell her that she is in violation of the "Geneva Convention on the Conduct of 'Whore-fare'". She, again, doesn't listen.
She makes up for that by always, but ALWAYS being at my side, 24/7/365, and even "guards her Daddy" whenever I'm a-bed...

Pet
My hubby and I have visiting privileges for our former pet we had. Domino was a pound rescue when she was a puppy , brought into the pound with her momma who was a daushund. The dad looks like it might have been a black lab. Domino was longer than a daushund , legs were longer, but not as tall as a lab. She was black with white under her chin and on her chest, that is why she was named Domino, a 2 spot domino. After the grandson goaded her into biting him 3 times, we gave her to some friends of my hubby who had older children. Domino did not like grandson
at all.

I had cats growing up and my first cat was named Tinker too j! I used to call my dad's car turn signals - tinkers - and so when I was 5 and we got my first kitten, that's the name I chose!
