J -- For the most part, Rosie was just Rosie. I didn't really think much about her one way or another and was actually surprised when she said she was gay. And then she got that damn weird haircut. :o

I'm so oblivious to who is and who isn't...it's no wonder I'm single.

Mary -- Thanks! When Mardi Gras was over, I knew it was time for an Easter one...and what's more fitting for Easter than one that depicts what happened three days earlier to lead up to Easter?

LOL! Even though it was 3:30 in the AM, you need I'd be in here, eh? Woke up and needed to take more cough medicine -- yup, getting sick again. But not as bad as before (I hope).

Now who brought gays into this thread discussion? oops..it was me!

Back to Howard....although I'm not a huge fan of censorship, I do support the networks right to dictate what is aired. Just like Bill O'Reilly said last night.....Fox can take him off the air anytime they want..its not censorship, it's their right!

Does anyone know what they are?

Edit -- Here we go, just found them:

Fort Lauderdale, FL
Orlando, FL
Rochester, NY
Louisville, KY
San Diego, CA
Pittsburgh, PA

I think it's stupid......Howard Stern is a revolution of radio just becasue Janet Jackson's boob was shown on national TV this has happened. America is so uptight!!! If it offends you don't listen! There is much more worse out there then a boob (oh my gosh not a boob what is that) or a caller calling into the stern show making a racial remark. (half our congress/senate has made racial remarks do they get fired) He didn't even say anything it was the caller who he hung up on! Get real!! People need to get a life......This just bothers the heck out of me!!!
Over in europe they have the naked news for crying out loud.
Anyway speaking of "NEWS" I think that is the most disturbing 1/2 show of the day. VIOLENCE!!!! that's all it is.......The media is the problem they blow everything up and make you fear! Howard Stern is just a radio show! If you don't like turn the station. OK, People will say what about the kids ??? Well make sure as a parent they don't listen to it.

EXACTLY! If it offends you, change the channel! Howard isn't here to be your daddy, and the lazy conservatives who complain about him need to get back to parenting instead of whining about how Howard had a few lesbians on his show. Obviously Clear Channel is looking for some political favors from the Republican Right by making this move, RIGHT BEFORE they met with congress.

Stern has been turning very anti-Bush lately, and rightly so.

That's his opinion and right... doesn't mean there aren't many conservatives listening to Howard every weekday morning.

I didn't say there wasn't. I'm a liberal and I listen to conservative radio talks shows whenever I can, just for the laughs. I've even called in to some of the shows...Most of the time I don't get through (wonder why? )

Exactly right, so conservatives being against Howard Stern shouldn't be an issue.

I'm pretty liberal about stuff like his show. But there are times I have had to just turn it off because it was sooo stupid. But I haven't watched it in quite a few months now.

It's not the conservatives who are complaining about him. It's the advertisers.

Companies don't want to be associated with his show anymore. Clear Channel has lost more money because of ads being pulled than because of FCC fines levied against them for Stern's comments.

Besides that, changing the channel doesn't fix anything. If child pornography were broadcast on TV, would changing the channel just make it go away for those of us who are "offended" by it? No. There are decency standards in radio and television, particularly between the hours of 6:00 AM and 10:00 PM. Certain things simply are NOT allowed on television or the radio. (Of course, kiddie stuff is not allowed anywhere, but I used it to make a point.) The FCC is responsible to the American citizens for ensuring that television and radio broadcast standards are met and that obscenity is kept off the air and indecency is regulated.

Howard Stern yanked from Clear Channel!

#34 Postby sunnyday » Sun Feb 29, 2004 1:42 pm

I wish American was more uptight so that we could restore morals in this country. As long as tv and radio condone (and encourage) such inappropriate behavior, it will continue to thrive.

I sure hope not........You will never restore morals in this country and we can't be anymore uptight in this nation then we are already. It's horrible!!! Instead of worrying about a boob or sexual content of a radio show. Lets pay more attention to crime, violence, drugs, and gun control. Like I said in the last post the news is the worst programing on TV for us and kids to watch. Nothing good comes out of it! It's the most depressing program on TV and you know what I tune into the news for the last 10 minutes to watch sports and weather. So I choose not to watch the rest of it. Just like you have the choice to listen to Stern if you want. Just like you have the choice to watch x-rated or R rated films. That's your choice as an American! That's supposed to be the beauty of this country. Anyway Stern show isn't gone from this city so I'm still happy.

"Gun control", molecules, means breathing slowly, maintaining your sights, and squeezing the trigger so that you hit your target. Every time.

This from an old rangemaster at the STL MPD Police Academy, from your local friendly "streetsoldier".

There is good reason to watch the news... to know what is going on in the world we live in, locally, nationally and internationally. I always liked to watch my local broadcasters in the Boston, MA area, now the same, but to a lesser extent (but still more than hardly ever) in the Orlando, FL area.

I agree with you as well, Shawn. It is more a fact than an opinion that the advertisers are complaining about Howard Stern, not conservatives. :)

Molecules, you must be referring to the local news which is 30 minutes of wasted time. You can be sure that every fire, car wreck, shooting, etc., will be covered in every detail. I couldn't agree more on that point. Network news isn't much better. Another 30 minutes of scandal's, soundbites, and, slanted suasion.

Stern's sophmoric schtick would be fine on HBO or something like that. His act is getting old. I used to think it was funny, but now its boring and stupid. I saw his movie and he seems to think that he's on some kind of crusade. It's not a crusade about free speech, it's a crusade about promoting himself.
