Interesting, 85% turnout for the Democratic Primaries is quite high.

Puerto Rico's population is dense with 3.8 million people on an island nation that is 3,515 square miles; the size of Rhode Island and Delaware combined. :)

I just checked a website that says 2 million Puerto Ricans moved to the United States, if these people remained, the island would be so densely populated that there would be virtually no room for people to live.

Tom the 85% average turnout here in Puerto Rico is for the general elections every 4 years. For the US party primaries here the turnout is quite lower around 40% on average but most of that 40% go and vote at the democratic primaries.About the over 2 millon people from here that are in the states the vast majority are living in New York and Florida is the second place that most Puertorricans are living but in every state we have people from here living including Alaska where around 300 boricuas live. 8-)

That makes sense... wouldn't think the general and U.S. party primaries would have a similar turnout.

I wonder -- and others may as well -- why some boricuas are interested in New York and Alaska... I can understand Florida. :)

Thanks, Luis. :)

Well Tom In New York many families went to that state and to the city proper to look for a better life in the US than here in Puerto Rico and that happened from the 1950's.About Alaska well some families went there to reside and make a new life up there.I Think that we have to go back to discuss about the theme of this thread Tom who Kerry will pick as his VP. :)

I said Gephardt just because: 1) I don't want Edwards to run with him and 2) he needs union support.

But Garrett Edwards was your guy why not being the VP for Kerry? Edwards can make Kerry take many of the ideas that he (Edwards)promoted in his campain.

Because Kerry WILL lose. That doesn't bode well for future political aspirations. Look at Lieberman.

Edwards sounds like the most obvious choice for Kerry, however, if I am not mistaken, neither Kerry wants him as hist Vice-Presidential running mate and Edwards doesn't want to run on the Vice-Presidential ticket.

Seconds after posting my thoughts about Puerto Ricans moving to New York, I assumed that most were in New York City because of the populated area and that they could find plenty of work. Still interesting about Alaska. :)

Luis, I didn't really go off topic. :) You mentioned in your initial post:

cycloneye wrote:I know that republicans are the majority in storm2k but also I know that there are a few democrats here so who do you think will be the VP choice of Kerry.I dont have opinion because I dont vote for president here in Puerto Rico.If you say other names you can post them in your replie.
