You both got that right. God, or Mohammad or who/whatever would, to coin a phrase, roll over in their graves if they could see what is being done in their holy names. Arthur C. Clarke may have it right in Childhood's End, ultimately some form of Overlord grows weary of our follies and misdeeds in the name of "Gods" and comes to pay a punishing visit.
