Fur - Big Tom got voted off Survivor.

Hunter - my total bill was $27, not $17! I was away from home all day and I knew when I posted that amount, it wasn't correct. So I checked my email confirmation and sure enough, it was more. Still at $27, DVD and farewell to Friends type book, free shipping, that's not bad.

So fur, Brad and Jenn are your neighbors? Very nice...... LOL

I watched it, and it was pretty good, if fairly predictable. Other than the fact that Monica and Chandler ended up with twins, there were no real surprises.

Everybody already knew that Ross and Rachel would get back together. How could they not? Friends has never been a groundbreaking TV show, and to come up with a way for Ross and Rachel to part forever and still have a happy ending was evidently too much of a challenge for the writers.

The truly sad part is, Ross and Rachel will never last as a couple, because even though they promised each other "no more stupidity" all either of them truly cares about is what THEY want. They never once considered what might be best for their daughter. Rachel's sole motivation for going to Paris was to live in France, and enjoy the new job and bigger paycheck. She never thought about being a single mother in a strange country.

Ross decided to let Rachel go, because he knew that would make her happy. This unselfish attitude lasted what? A week? Suddenly, it's "I love her. She has to stay." Not once did he say, or think, "I want my daughter to stay here with me."

Even with all of this, I still think it was a fairly good finale overall.

Bunch, I was a little surprised too that they never mentioned Emma at all. I think Ross should have been more sad about the baby than about Rachel. I don't think it was too much of a challenge for the writers to have them part ways, I think they wanted Friends to sit happily in all our minds after all these years. I would have been very angry had they not gotten back together. That's what I love about Friends, good decent people with "happy" endings. What's wrong with a happy ending?

Final thoughts......I think Friends' writers wanted to bring the R/R story full circle. So I was very happy they reunited. And to have the very same music playing as when they first kissed, was perfect. Perfect!

However I also was surprised Ross wasn't torn up about not being to see his child everyday! Unlike Ben, Rachel allowed Ross to see Emma every single day. He didn't have to share custody of Emma, Rachel seemed quite willing to have Ross in their lives 24/7. They even all lived together for a while after her birth! He should have been devastated that Emma was being shipped off to Paris! If my child was suddenly going to live on another continent - right? (insert loveable Joey moment, LOL) - I would be very upset. But I think the writers realised that adding a baby to the mix, sometimes is death to a sitcom. So maybe they all just decided - let's mention this child as little as possible.

Another thing I questioned - where were Judy and Jack when the twins were being born? They were there for other births, milestones like this? I for one would have welcomed J/J popping in for one last scene, with wacky comments - "Monica, this isn't the way I wanted you to become a mother, but I've accepted it." Doesn't that sound like a classic Judy line? Or - "at least your brother had 2 natural children, well....one was with a lesbian and the other woman he isn't even married to, sigh.....but still we're so proud of Ross."

Oh well, can't have everything. My daughter and I had an out of town college visit yesterday. So lots of time to talk about Friends. Nina would sigh - "oh I'll miss Friends. It's over Mom! I'm so sad"...... And I said - "you know Nina, I thought I'd very sad today b/c it is over now, but I'm not as sad. Because Ross and Rachel finally got back together in the end!" So I was sad and happy yesterday. However Nina was down in the dumps. And on the campus we visited we heard lots of students talking about it.....did you cry? I cried.....comments like that.

I still say now we have the perfect opportunity for a reunion - can you just imagine the pitch - come celebrate with your Friends as Ross and Rachel finally get married, this time for good!

I'm glad that it had a happy ending. Sitcoms tend to do that. Dramas and sci-fi/fantasies tend to be sad.

In the finale of Xena, the warrior princess died. :(

mrschad, what I said in my post was: "to come up with a way for Ross and Rachel to part forever AND STILL have a happy ending was evidently too much of a challenge for the writers."

To simply have had them part ways and have a sad ending would have been easy, but would have alienated most, if not all, of the fan base for the show. To have them part forever, and be happy with the decision, well, therein lay the challenge, and my personal opinion is that the writers were just not up to that.

Bunch, I don't think it would be a happy ending for the fans if they parted forever. Even if they were happy with the decision, the fans still wouldn't be.
